Abstract

The invention comprises salts of hydroxocobalamine and organic acids. Acids specified are aspartic acid, glycine, glutamic acid, proline, valine and succinic acid. The compounds are prepared by adding the acid to a solution of hydroxocobalamine until there is a sharp change in pH, then adding further acid in quantity between 1/10 and 1/4 of that previously added, adding further acid if the pH changes on standing, and then crystallizing the compound by adding acetone. Examples are given. The hydroxocobalamine salts may be administered as solutions in water, as tablets, e.g. with wheat starch, potato starch and magnesium stearate, or as suppositories or ointments.
