[Also in Division H4] In a metallurgical process involving heat treatment in which a physical property of the product, e.g. elastic modulus, is dependent on said treatment, an electrical signal representative of said physical property is obtained by an ultrasonic process (see Division H4) and said physical property is automatically maintained within predetermined limits by controlling the temperature or deviation of the heat treatment in accordance with said electrical signal, Fig. 4 (not shown)
