Abstract

100,996. Hanneborg, O. B. H. April 4, 1916. Rotary scrapers.-In a ditching and tile-laying machine having a rotating vertical cutting-screw, the screw is provided with removable shares or knife sections 5. These sections are secured by bolts to a helical rib 2 on the screw shaft 1, and adjacent ends of the sections overlap to give a continuous helical surface. The edge of the screw is curved upwards, and the pitch increases towards the top. The inclination of the threads changes from a downward inclination towards the shaft 1 at the bottom, to an upward inclination at the top. The shoe 14 forming the bottom pivot of the screw has its under surface convex in cross-section, and its upper surface rounded towards the front to give a sharp cutting- edge. The shoe also has a central rib 21 and inclined sides 22. A lubricant pipe 16 is provided. The tiles are fed through a curved pipe &c. placed in a casing 11 behind the screen 10 of the screw.
