In a cooker oven 10, a disc-shaped thermostat element 18 is set in a recess defined by a lip 15 in a wall or roof 13 so as not to project into the oven. The disc element 18 is attached by a raised central base 19 to a cap 16 held against the lip 15 by a screw 20 carried by a strap 21. A false roof 23 is also provided.
