Abstract
Compounds of the general formula <FORM:1009187/C3/1> where each of R1 and R2 is an R4-(o-alkylene)n radical, R3 is a hydroxyl group, an alkyl radical, an alkoxy radical or an R4-(o-alkylene)n-o-radical, wherein R4 is an alkyl, alkanyl or acyl radical and n is an integer from 1 to 50, may be prepared from the corresponding acid chlorides or acid anhydrides by reaction with higher or lower alcohols, with monoalkylene glycol alkyl ethers or with polyoxyalkylene glycol monoalkyl ethers. These compounds may be added to proteinaceous material and in particular to photographic gelatine to render it antistatic. (see Division G2). Specified compounds of higher molecular weight are mixed phosphates of the formula O=P-[O-(CH2-CH2-O-)mC17H35]3 with O=P(OH)-[O-CH2-CH2-O-)mC17H35]2 where m is 5, 10, 15 and 50, and similar compounds derived from ethylene oxide and nonyl phenol in which m is 6, 15 and 30. Other compounds are tri-(2-methoxyethylene) phosphate, tri-(2-ethoxyethylene) phosphate, tri(diethylene glycol monomethyl ether) phosphate and tri-(diethylene glycol monoethyl ether) phosphate. Specification 907,739 is referred to.ALSO:Compounds of the general formula <FORM:1009187/C2/1> where each of R1 and R2 is an R4-(O-alkylene)n-radical, R3 is a hydroxyl group, an alkyl radical, an alkoxy radical or an R4-(O-alkylene)n-O-radical, wherein R4 is an alkyl, alkaryl or acyl radical and n is an integer from 1 to 50, may be prepared from the corresponding acid chlorides or acid anhydrides by reaction with higher or lower alcohols, with monoalkylene glycol alkylethers or with polyoxyalkylene glycol monoalkyl ethers. These compounds may be added to proteinaceous material and in particular to photographic gelatine to render it anti-static (see Division G2). Specified compounds are tri-(2 - methoxyethylene) phosphate, tri - (2-ethoxyethylene) phosphate, tri - (diethylene glycol monomethyl ether) phosphate, tri-(diethylene glycol monomethyl ether) phosphate, and mixed phosphates of the formula <FORM:1009187/C2/2> with <FORM:1009187/C2/3> where m is 3, and 5 of formula <FORM:1009187/C2/4> with <FORM:1009187/C2/5> where m is 5, 10, 15 and 50; and similar compounds derived from ethylene oxide and nonyl phenol in which m is 6, 15 and 30. Specification 907,739 is referred to.
