In a system for converting a series of n code elements into another group of n elements the conversion is such that if the original group represents the co-ordinates of a point in an n dimension space the new group is the coordinates of that point after a rigid rotation of the orthogonal axes. The conversion is so arranged that noise in the transmission channel has less effect on the new group than it would on the original group.
