Abstract
1,008,297. Auto-threading tape recorders. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 22, 1963 [Nov. 27, 1962], No. 46222/63. Heading G5R. To prevent the threading mouse 10 on the tape 3 from escaping from the feed cassette 7 at the end of forward feeding, which would prevent automatic rewind, a closure 22 is provided which, when the pinch-roller control device 14 is actuated, closes the aperture 9 to such an extent that the tape 3 can pass through it, but not the mouse 10. The pinch-roller 11 is mounted on a lever 12, and is moved into engagement with the capstan 2 by means of a push button operated bell crank 14. This bell crank pivots about an axis 15 to move the crank arm 16, and hence the lever 12. The closure 22 is coupled to the lever 12 via a linkage so that actuation of this lever moves the closure across the aperture 9. Auto-threading.-In order to convey the mouse 10a on the leading end of the tape from the cassette 7 to the take-up cassette 34, an arm 37, mounted on a guide rail 36, and to which is attached a cord 23 wrapped round a pulley drum 24, is moved from its normal position adjacent the aperture 9, across to the take-up cassette 34 by moving lever 26 which rotates drum 24 by means of a toothed quadrant 27 meshing with a pinion 28. The mouse conveying device is locked in its normal position when the control device is operated to move the pinch-roller 11 into its operative position, by means of a lever arm 30 which engages with the arm 16 on the bell crank 14 and with the lever 26.
