Abstract
1,006,438. Protective systems. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. July 10, 1962 [July 11, 1961], No. 26417/62. Heading H2K. A distance protective arrangement for a three-phase system with a directly earthed neutral, comprises four directional units, one responsive to two-phase short circuits and the other three being responsive to single-phase and three-phase faults. The first unit comprises square-wave shapers 4, 5 connected to replica impedances 1, 2, 3 so that each shaper is energized by a voltage derived from a line voltage and a voltage dependent on the vector difference between the corresponding line currents. The output of the shaper 4 is differentiated at 7 and the resulting short pulses are supplied to a gate 8 together with the square waves from the shaper 5, a tripping relay 9 being energized when the pulses have the same polarity as the square waves. The three remaining directional units each comprise a square-wave shaper 14, 15 or 16, each supplied via one of the replica impedances 1, 2 or 3 with a voltage dependent on a phase voltage, the corresponding line current and the zero sequence current. Each of these units also comprises a further squarewave shaper 18, 19 or 20 energized by a voltage derived from that positive sequence line voltage which has a phase angle of 90 degrees relative to the particular phase voltage applied to the other shaper of the unit. The outputs of the shapers 14 . . . 16 and 18 . . . 20 are applied to differentiating units 21 . . . 23 and gates 24 . . . 26 to effect the energization of the relay 9 as in the case of the first directional unit. Fig. 2 shows a four zone system comprising four of the arrangements as in Fig. 1, but using a common sequence filter 17 and common squarers 18 . . . 20. The arrangement having the longest reach may act as a starting unit controlling the energization of a timing element.
