Abstract
An electrical contact consists of 45-78% by weight of silver and 55-22% by weight of a hard phase which contains 1-40% by weight of molybdenum and/or tungsten, the remainder of the hard phase containing titanium carbide, or zirconium carbide, or chromium carbide, or any mixture of these carbides, e.g. up to 25% by weight of chromium carbide and the remainder titanium carbide. The preferred contact consists of 63-76% silver, and the hard phase contains 1-15% of tungsten and/or molybdenum. The silver is infiltrated into a sintered network of the carbide and the tungsten and/or molybdenum.
