Abstract
1,005,184. Mine roof bars. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. Jan. 1, 1962 [Dec. 30, 1961], No. 44768/60. Heading E1E. Mine roof support bars having tongue and fork pivotal connection incorporate a packing piece 9 rotatably retained in a hole in the tongue 2, said packing piece by virtue of its weight disposition being automatically rotatable to an appropriate position in its hole to receive a tightening wedge 14. The packing piece is retained in position by a U-shaped retainer 11 welded thereto and embracing the tongue. The packing piece may have flanges to prevent it from moving sideways and the wedge may be held captive by a chain.
