Abstract
1,004,090. Automatic exchange systems. TELEFUNKEN. Nov. 22, 1961 [Nov. 26, 1960], No. 41776/61. Heading H4K. In a system in which switches at an exchange and at a concentrator are set to the same position dependent on the subscriber concerned, a signal identifying the subscriber is sent twice over the exchange line, the first time in the direction of the call, and the connection is established only if the two signals are identical. The signals may be sent in binary code form. Four alternatives arise for the second signal. It may be sent (1) in the same direction as the first, (2) in the reverse direction, (3) always from exchange to the concentrator, or (4) always from the concentrator to the exchange. In case (1), a preliminary seizing signal is necessary to avoid simultaneous sending of an identifying signal from both ends. In cases (1) and (4), since the comparison of signals on a call from the concentrator is made at the exchange, a subscriber barred from making outgoing calls is disabled by a signal from the exchange. In all cases a pilot tone may be employed to indicate when the connection has been made at the concentrator.
