Abstract

An adhesive composition comprises in parts by weight: 100 to 800 of at least one liquid polysulphide polymer, 100 to 2000 of at least one epoxy resin, the ratio of polysulphide polymer to epoxy resin being 1 : 1 to 1 : 2.5, 8 to 300 of an epoxy curing agent, 40 to 400 of a solvent comprising 50% or more of at least one aliphatic solvent. Suggested liquid epoxy resins are those with epoxide equivalents of 150-2000. Solid epoxy resins may have epoxide equivelents of up to 4000. Preferred polysulphide polymers are mercaptan-terminated and have number average molecular weights of 500-1000. Suggested epoxy curing agents are dimethylaminomethyl phenol and tri-(dimethylaminomethyl) phenol. Suggested aliphatic solvents are acetone, methyl ethyl ketone and methyl isobutyl ketone and aromatic solvents are xylene, toluene and benzene. Up to 8000 parts by weight of one or more fillers may be used, preferably neutral or slightly alkaline fillers. Such as clacium carbonates, aluminium silicate, and graphite. The composition are used to bond concrete or terrazzo floors to their base structures. Specification 1,003,841 is referred to.
