Abstract

A 2 - chloro - azacyclo - 2,3 - alkene N-carbochloride is prepared by reacting the corresponding cycloalkanone oxime, or a hydrohalide thereof, with phosgene while at all, or substantially all, times during the reaction more than two mols. of phosgene are available per mol. of oxime. Polar solvents may be employed. Preferably the reaction is carried out at 30 DEG -45 DEG C. and completed at 70 DEG -100 DEG C. Examples prepare 2 - chloro - azacyclo - 2,3 - heptene and - octene N - carbochlorides. Specifications 901,169, 901,170 and 902,390 are referred to.
