[Also in Division D1 ] Fastener elements 2 of metal or synthetic resin are assembled on a rod 1 and squeezed into place, or may be moulded integral with the rod; they may have projections 16, 17 serving as guides for the sliding clasp. The assembly is woven into the bifurcated edge 5, 6 of the stringer tape by taking the weft over the rod 1 from one to the other of the flaps 5, 6. The weft is evenly spaced in the body 4 of the tape but bunches together where it passes between the elements 2; the spacing may be made uniform by inserting extra weft in the body 4.
