Abstract

[Also in Division G1] A stylus/belt record recorder as otherwise detailed in Specification 972,418, has a slip 44 supplied from a continuous roll 46, Fig. 9, which carries correction (lower) and end-of-letter (upper) marks 80 applied by solenoid means 54, Fig. 10, and a similar means (Fig. 3, not shown), respectively. A rocking switch on the hand-microphone (Fig. 1, not shown) energizes either solenoid as required and the chisel-ended tips of the markers 70, scrape away a small amount of an opaque white coating 78 on the underside of a transparent slip base 76, the marks appearing black in the absence of rearward illumination. A key 82 on the machine, Fig. 5, when pressed, is latched down by interengagement of means 134 with the end of member 136. As a result:- (a) Gear 102 is advanced into mesh with machine gear 118 to feed the slips by means of capstans 90, 92. (b) A member 158, Fig. 9, is released from slots 50 in the slip. (c) Contacts 124 are made to raise the heads from the record. (d) When the key 82 is released (but still latched), the member 158 presses against the underside of the slip. (e) When the member 158 can return into the Fig. 9 position on arrival of the next slots 50 in the slip, the movement rocks the member 136 to unlatch key 82, stopping the slip-feed. The slip may then be torn off at the slits 50, at at tearing-comb means (Fig. 1, not shown).
