Abstract

An adjustable hinge 10 comprising a profiled support platform 21. The hinge comprises ```a hinge body 13 having a mounting face 14 for mounting the hinge body on an upright frame member, and a hinge pin 16 defining a hinge axis. A planar hinge leaf 17 is attached to the hinge body 13 and projects laterally therefrom, so as to overlie a decorative edge formation (figure 3, 18a) and an adjoining planar surface of the door to which the hinge leaf 17 is to be secured. A carriage plate 19 is slidably mounted on the hinge leaf 17 to carry out lateral adjustment between the hinge and the door, said plate having holes 20 through which hinge fasteners can be taken to pass through the leaf 17 and into secure engagement with the frame member. A profiled support platform 21 has one planar face 21a that is engageable with a side 17a of the hinge leaf 17 facing the door, and a profiled opposite face 21b matching in shape to the profile of the decorative edge formation 18a and the adjoining planar surface 18b of the frame member so as to be engageable therewith. The support platform 21 allows the hinge fasteners to pass through the platform 21 and into secure engagement with the frame member to form a rigid assembly of the carriage plate 19, the hinge leaf 17 and the support platform 21 which is secured to the door frame.
