Abstract

An exercise machine comprises rotating wheel 30, means for driving the wheel, and fan 40 attached onto and rotated in concert with the wheel, such that fan 40 is driven by the driving means via wheel 30 and serves to blow cooling air onto a user. The driving means may comprise sprocket or pulley 22, sprocket or pulley 32, and a chain or belt (33, fig. 2). Rotating wheel 30 may be a magnetic wheel which applies a resistive force against the user, and fan 40 may comprise plate 41 attached to wheel 30 with a plurality of blades 47 extending from the plate. The blades may extend radially outwardly from the plate, and may include side segments 48 extending laterally from the plate. Side segments 48 may include inner portions having an inclined surface 481, which may be spaced away from an opening 44 provided in the plate. Plate 41 may include laterally extending peripheral flange 45 having an inner diameter equal to an outer diameter of wheel 30, such that plate 41 may securely engage with the wheel. Wheel 30 may be rotated by way of a rotary member 20. The exercise machine may be a rowing machine or a cycling machine (see fig. 5).
