Abstract

The present invention relates to a ceiling void fan coil unit for mounting in the ceiling void between a suspended false ceiling and a true ceiling from which the suspended ceiling is supported. Users of ceiling void mounted fan coil units typically require high thermal output from the units with as little noise as possible. There is a conflict between obtaining maximum thermal output from the unit and low noise levels. This is especially so if the fan coil inlet is adjacent to a return air grille. A ceiling void mounted fan coil unit is disclosed comprising a main housing 22,122 having a inlet 24,124 and a plurality of outlets 26, 126, and a fan unit and a coil unit located between the inlet and the plurality of outlets. Additionally, the housing 22,122 further comprises an extension member 30,130, the extension member being generally U shaped and having first and second open ends 38,138, an open side of the extension member being located over the main housing inlet and the first and second open ends being located at first and second sides respectively of the main housing. <IMAGE>
