Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for treating keratin fibers using a composition comprising two distinct particular fatty acids, the composition having a low water content.
Description
The present invention relates to a process for treating keratin fibers using a composition comprising at least two distinct particular fatty acids, the composition having a low water content.
External atmospheric agents such as pollution and bad weather, as well as mechanical or chemical treatments such as brushing, combing, dyeing, bleaching, perming, straightening, repeated washing, damage and weaken the hair. The hair is thus damaged and can in the long run become dry, rough, brittle, dull, split ends and/or soft or even sensitive to humidity, making the hair unruly, often with frizz, and/or difficult to comb in the middle. humid, especially in very humid environments.
Thus, to remedy these drawbacks, it is customary to resort to hair care products which use compositions intended to condition the hair in a suitable manner by providing it with satisfactory cosmetic properties, in particular softness to the touch (the hair are no longer rough), good detangling properties leading to ease of combing, good discipline of the hair which thus has good shaping.
These hair treatments, often based on oil or silicone raw materials, can however give a greasy and heavy appearance to the touch which is not always pleasant for the user. Furthermore, these hair treatments have no or little effect on controlling the volume of keratin fibers and/or maintaining the hairstyle and/or disciplining the hair in a humid or even very humid environment.
Thus, there is a real need to develop a hair treatment process making it possible to remedy these drawbacks and which is in particular capable of preserving or even improving the quality of the fiber, in particular softness, detangling, straightening, discipline and/or shine, and to lastingly limit the formation of frizz and/or the increase in volume of the hair in a humid environment in order to facilitate styling of hair in a humid environment. Such a process should advantageously use compositions having a low water content, in particular anhydrous and which ideally do not include silicone raw materials.

Locks of 2.7 g of Brazilian hair having a length of 27 cm and having type IV curl were used.
The locks were washed using a DOP shampoo (0.4 g/g of hair) before application of the compositions to be tested.
81 mg of each of the compositions to be tested were then applied to separate damp strands, previously wrung out and dabbed on absorbent paper. This application was done with the fingers while kneading the hair fiber.
The hair strands were then combed, detangled and placed in a glove box at 20% relative humidity at 25°C for 2 hours.
The locks were then placed in an oven at 80% relative humidity at 25°C for 24 hours.
Volume and frizz measurements by measuring the width of the strand at mid-height were carried out at the outlet of the oven and compared with the value obtained for a reference strand which had not undergone treatment with the composition according to the 'invention.
The results of the wick width measurements at mid-height in cm are summarized in the table below:
((

It is observed that the width values of the wicks at mid-height are lower for the wicks treated by the method according to the invention than for the reference wick.
The process according to the invention therefore makes it possible to limit the formation of frizz and the increase in the volume of the hair in a humid environment, even in the absence of silicone raw materials.
The surface of a natural hair is perceived as smooth, that is to say with a low coefficient of friction, unlike that of damaged hair which is perceived as rough, that is to say with a coefficient high friction.
Hair treatments that damage the hair, such as coloring and bleaching, are known to increase the hair's coefficient of friction.
Therefore, the lower the friction coefficient of the hair, the better the sensation of repaired hair and the ease of combing and detangling of the hair in dry and wet conditions.
The “smooth touch” was evaluated for composition C1 according to the evaluation protocol described below.

For the study, 3.5 cm strands of bleached Caucasian hair (alkaline solubility SA22) were used.
During this test, the 3.5cm long wick is fixed in the sample holder of a Zwickiline Z2.5 mechanical testing machine (Zwick, Germany) equipped with a 100 Newtons (N) measuring cell. . A normal force of 0.5 N is applied to the wicks using forceps covered with disposable plastic foam. The foam is replaced after each measurement. The testing machine requires movement at a constant speed of 100 mm/min to extract the wick from the pliers. During removal, the force required to extract the brush from the hair is measured as a function of the displacement. The force/displacement curve obtained is characterized at the end of the stroke by a plateau, the average force at the plateau is recorded. The impact of hair treatments on friction properties is determined by comparing the average force on the plate of reference wicks to the average force on the plate of treated wicks.
For measurements in the dry state (dry friction force), the hair is conditioned at 25°C and 45% relative humidity.
For measurements in the wet state (wet friction force), the strands of hair are immersed in demineralized water for one minute prior to the measurement.
Composition C1 was applied according to the leave-on protocol described below and then measurements in the dry state and in the wet state were carried out according to the protocol described previously.
A balance of power between treated hair and untreated hair could thus be determined: Ftreated(NOT) / FNo treated(NOT).

Lower friction forces are observed on dry and wet hair for hair treated by the process according to the present invention than for untreated hair. The hair surface is smoother, even in the absence of silicone raw materials. Treated hair is softer, easier to comb and detangle than untreated hair.
