In one aspect, the present invention relates to a system for dispensing a skin formula, the system comprising a base device configured to dispense a formula into an applicator, an applicator configured to apply the formula, the applicator including a reservoir configured for containing the formula, a roller ball adapted to apply the formula and an attachment adapted to attach the applicator to the base device and a dispensing device.

In another aspect, the invention relates to a method of using the skin care system described above, the method comprising placing an applicator in a base device, filling the applicator with the formula , removing the applicator from the base device, placing the applicator in a delivery device, and applying the formula with the applicator while simultaneously administering light therapy with the delivery device.

A system for filling and cleaning an applicator configured to apply a formula in conjunction with a dispensing device is provided. A basic device is configured to fill and clean an applicator and allow a user to mix one or more formula ingredients into a skin care formula. In some embodiments, after filling the applicator, a user may attach the applicator to a delivery device configured to deliver light therapy while the applicator applies a formula to a surface such as the skin. In some embodiments, a connected communications device may allow a user to select a formula composed of one or more formula ingredients. In some embodiments, the formula may be a moisturizer, concealer, fine line and wrinkle treatment, toner, or acne treatment. In some embodiments, the base device includes one or more capsules containing a formula ingredient including, but not limited to, aloe, vitamin C, coconut milk, or shea butter. When a user selects a desired formula with an application on the communication device, one or more formula ingredients may be dispensed into the applicator to create the personalized formula.

In some embodiments, the user may apply the formula to the skin along with light therapy such as near infrared light therapy, red light therapy, blue light therapy, or yellow light therapy to treat the skin more in depth.

There is an example of an applicator in accordance with the present technology. The applicator 100 may include a rolling ball 110 and a fixation 120.

The rolling ball 110 may be designed to dispense and apply a formula located in a reservoir within the applicator 100 (as shown in the -2B). In some embodiments, the rolling ball 110 is made of plastic but in other embodiments, the rolling ball 110 may be made of glass or metal.

In some embodiments, the applicator 100 may also include an attachment 120 configured to secure the applicator 100 in a dispensing device such as the dispensing device 200 on the . While the attachment 120 is illustrated as a disc shaped to mate with a dispensing device, the attachment 120 may take any shape to attach the applicator to a dispensing device including a threaded attachment , a magnet or attachment designed to engage with the dispensing device. In some embodiments, the attachment 120 is transparent so that the dispensing device is visible through the attachment.

In use, the applicator 100 may be placed within a dispensing device (as shown in ) and attached to the dispensing device with attachment 120. The roller ball 110 can be rolled over a surface, such as a user's skin, to apply a formula.

THE -2B are examples of cross sections of an applicator in accordance with the present technology. The applicator 100 may include a rolling ball 110, a fixture 120, a reservoir 130 designed to contain a formula 140, a piston 150, a microcontroller 160 and a processor 170.

In some embodiments, reservoir 130 is located within applicator 100 and is designed to hold a formula. In some embodiments, the formula is a skin care formula. In some embodiments, the skin care formula is a moisturizer, toner, acne treatment, wrinkle treatment, fine line treatment, or cosmetic. When the rolling ball 110 rolls, the formula 140 in the reservoir 130 is applied to a surface.

In some embodiments, the applicator 100 further includes a piston 150 configured to push the formula 140 toward the roller ball 110 when the formula is applied. In some embodiments, the piston 150 is directed by a circuit on a dispensing device or on the applicator itself to push the formula 140.

In some embodiments, the applicator 100 includes a microcontroller 160 configured to identify the type of formula 140 within the applicator 100 relative to a dispensing device. The microcontroller 160 can be used to identify any number of things about formula 140 or applicator 100, including the amount of formula 140 inside the applicator 100, the expiration date of formula 140 inside applicator 100 or when to replace the applicator.

FIG. 1A is a cross section of an example applicator 100 with an example filling mechanism 180a. In some embodiments, the applicator 100 includes a filling mechanism 180 configured to mate with a base device and fill the reservoir 130 of the applicator 100.

In some embodiments, the filling mechanism 180 is an umbrella valve 180a. In use, when the applicator 100 is connected to the base device (as shown in the -3B), the umbrella valve 180 lifts to allow the formula 140 to flow from the base device to the reservoir 130 of the applicator.

FIG. 1B is a cross section of an example applicator 100 with another example filling mechanism 180b. In some embodiments, the applicator 180 includes two or more magnets 185a, 185b and a magnetic piston 180b.

In use, when the applicator 100 is placed on a base device, the at least two magnets 185a, 185b generate a magnetic field to lift the magnetic piston 180b. When the magnetic piston 180b is lifted, the formula 140 can distribute from the base device into the reservoir 130 of the applicator 100.

THE -3B are examples of basic devices in accordance with the present technology. The base device 200 may include a dispensing chamber 220, one or more capsules 210a, 210b, 210c, and a cleaning solution reservoir 230. In some embodiments, the base device 200 may also include one or more capsule caps 240a, 240b, 240c and a cap of 250 cleaning solution.

In some embodiments, the capsule(s) 210a, 210b, 210c have a round cylindrical body and a nozzle at a first end. The capsule 210 may contain and dispense as needed a quantity of formula ingredient into the dispensing chamber 220. In some embodiments, the capsule 210 dispenses a formula ingredient by rotation of a capsule gear while the capsule 210 remains in place substantially vertically along the Y axis. A circumferential groove is located at a second end of the capsule and is used to secure the capsule 210 in the dispensing device 100.

A quantity of formula ingredient can be released from the capsule 210 via the nozzle by a first rotational movement of the first end relative to the second end of the capsule 210. The rotational movement of the first end of the capsule 210 in a second direction, opposite to the first rotational movement, can close the nozzle of the capsule 210.

In use, an applicator 100 may be placed on the base device 200. In some embodiments, the capsule(s) 210a, 210b, 210c dispense one or more formula ingredients into the mixing chamber 220. While the capsule(s) 210a, 210b, 210c dispense one or more formula ingredients into the mixing chamber 220. capsules 210a, 210b, 210c distribute the formula ingredients, as shown in , the capsule cap(s) 240a, 240b, 240c are designed to allow the formula ingredients to flow from the capsule(s) 210a, 210b, 210c into the mixing chamber 220. The mixing chamber then extrudes the formula into the applicator 100. In some embodiments, the base device 200 further includes a cleaning solution reservoir 230 configured to contain a cleaning solution. In some embodiments, the cleaning solution reservoir is another capsule 210a, 210b, 210c, but in other embodiments, the cleaning solution reservoir 230 may be larger than the capsules. In some embodiments, the cleaning solution reservoir 230 may be removed from the base device 200.

The base device 200 may also be designed to clean the applicator between formulas. In use, as shown in , the cleaning solution tank 230 contains a cleaning solution. The cleaning solution reservoir 230 dispenses the cleaning solution into the mixing chamber 220. The mixing chamber 230 can then extrude the cleaning solution into the applicator 100 to clean the applicator 100. When the cleaning solution reservoir 230 dispenses the solution cleaning solution into the mixing chamber 220, the cleaning solution cap is configured to allow the cleaning solution to flow from the cleaning solution tank 230 into the mixing chamber. Additionally, the capsule caps 240a, 240b, 240c are designed to prevent one or more formula ingredients from flowing into the mixing chamber 220.

There is an example of a dispensing device in accordance with the present technology. In some embodiments, the applicator 100 may be attached to a dispensing device 300. In some embodiments, the dispensing device includes an end 310, one or more light sources 320a, 320b, and an actuator 330. certain embodiments, the applicator 100 connects to the dispensing device 300.

In some embodiments, the dispensing device 300 includes an end 310. The end 310 may be configured to be viewed through the attachment 120 on the applicator 100. In some embodiments, the end 310 includes one or a plurality of light sources 320a, 320b configured to deliver light therapy to a surface while applying formula 140.

In some embodiments, the light source(s) 320a, 320b are LEDs. In some embodiments, there are only two light sources 320a, 320b on the distribution device. In some embodiments, a first light source 320a is configured to deliver light therapy at a first wavelength. In some embodiments, a second source 320b is configured to deliver light therapy at a second wavelength. In some embodiments, light therapy on the first wavelength and light therapy on the second wavelength are administered simultaneously. In some embodiments, light therapy and application of the formula occur simultaneously.

In some embodiments, the dispensing device 300 includes one or more actuators 330. While the actuator is illustrated as a button, in some embodiments the actuator may be a switch, a button, capacitive touch type, a dial or the like. The actuator may be designed to initiate delivery of light therapy, to apply the formula, or both.

In some embodiments, the dispensing device 300 also includes a contactless chip reader (not shown in FIG. 2) for reading the microcontroller 160 on the applicator 100.

In use, a user may place an application 100 into the dispensing device 300. When the actuator 330 is actuated, the formula is applied, light therapy is administered, or both simultaneously. A user can then apply the formula with the applicator 100.

There is an example of a skin care system according to the present technology. The system, which implements the base device 200 described above, includes at least the base skin device 200, a dispensing device 300 as described herein and a connected communication device 300. Optionally, the system may further include one or more external servers that are implemented as part of a cloud computing environment.

The communication device 400 may be a personal computer (PC), a laptop, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a smartphone, a tablet device, an ultra mobile personal computer (UMPC), a netbook (mini-laptop) or a notebook-type personal computer. In the examples below, the connected device 300 is assumed to be a smartphone, for example an Apple iPhone.

The communication device 400 enables wireless communication with the base device 200 and/or the dispensing device 300 by means of a wireless communication interface circuit on the skin care dispenser 100. However, the communication device 400 also allows for a wired connection with the base device 200 and/or the distribution device 300 by means of a USB interface on the device 100. Additionally, each device, including the applicator 100, may communicate with others and the external device(s) via an internet connection via an 802.11 wireless connection to a wireless internet access point, or a physical connection to the access point Internet, such as through an Ethernet interface. Each connected communication device 300 allows for wireless communication with other devices, such as via a Bluetooth connection or any other wireless means as well.

The connected communication device 300 is configured to receive information from a user for use in generating a skin care formulation to be used by the base device 200 to dispense a skin care material into a mixing chamber, for example a mixing chamber 220.

In some embodiments, the communication device 400 includes a related application designed to assist a user in dispensing a formula and/or cleaning an applicator 100. In some embodiments, the application is designed to apply an algorithm to a photo or video of a user to detect one or more skin features. In some embodiments, the skin characteristic(s) may include dark circles, acne, pigmentation, rosacea, wrinkles, fine lines, or sores. Additionally, in some embodiments, the application is designed to diagnose one or more skin conditions using an AI algorithm.

In some embodiments, the communication device 400 may further detect one or more environmental conditions with one or more sensors. In some embodiments, environmental conditions may include temperature, humidity, UV, pollution, and the like. In some embodiments, the application may collect environmental data from other sources such as weather services. In some embodiments, the application may further recommend to the user a formula, consisting of one or more skin ingredients, based on the detected skin characteristic and/or environmental conditions.

In some embodiments, the user may create a user profile on the communication device application 400. In some embodiments, creating the user profile includes completing a user questionnaire. In some embodiments, the user questionnaire gives the user a series of inputs including previous skin treatment, previous use of the application, desired skin quality, or skin problem. In some embodiments, the application may solicit feedback from the user regarding their preferred or most effective formulation to help improve the algorithm.

There is an example method 600 of using the skin care system in accordance with the present technology.

At block 610, an applicator (such as applicator 100) is placed in a base device. In some embodiments, the applicator can slide, or snap, into the base device. In some embodiments, the applicator may include an attachment for attaching to the base device, such as a clip or magnet.

At block 620, the applicator is filled with the formula. In some embodiments, the applicator is filled with the formula as described in the . In some embodiments, one or more capsules may be placed within the base device to dispense one or more formula ingredients into a mixing chamber. In some embodiments, the mixing chamber can then extrude the formula into the applicator.

At block 630, the applicator is removed from the base device.

At block 640, the applicator is placed in the dispensing device. In some embodiments, the applicator may be placed in the dispensing device with the same attachment that connected the applicator to the base device. In some embodiments, the applicator 100 may be prefilled. In this case, the process can start from block 640.

In Block 650, the formula is applied with the applicator while light therapy is administered simultaneously. In some embodiments, the delivery device includes an actuator configured to begin both application of the formula and delivery of light therapy. In some embodiments, the delivery device includes two or more light sources configured to deliver light therapy. In some embodiments, the delivery device is configured to provide two or more types of light therapy, one at a time or simultaneously. In these embodiments, a light source is configured to deliver a first light therapy and another light source is configured to deliver a second light therapy. In some embodiments, the first light therapy may include emitting a first light at a first wavelength and the second light therapy may include emitting a second light at a second wavelength.

At block 660, the applicator is returned to the base device. In some embodiments, the applicator may be used more than once before exhausting the formula inside the applicator. In some embodiments, the applicator contains enough formula only for a single use.

At block 670, the applicator is cleaned with the cleaning solution within the base device as described herein. In some embodiments, a user may repeat block 670 to completely clean the applicator. In some embodiments, the applicator can then be refilled with a formula for new use.

At block 680, the process ends.

Claims (1)

System for dispensing a skin formula, the system comprising:
a base device (200) configured to dispense a formula into an applicator; And
an applicator (100) designed to apply the formula,
the applicator comprising:
a reservoir (130) designed to contain the formula,
a rolling ball (110) adapted to apply the formula, and
an attachment (120) configured to attach the applicator to the base device and a dispensing device;
the base device further comprising at least two capsules, each capsule being designed to contain a formula ingredient, and
the base device being adapted to dispense one or more formula ingredients into the applicator, such that the formula ingredient(s) mix within the applicator to create a formula.
