Description
The present invention relates to the technical field of devices for filtering manholes and evacuating runoff water and outlets adapted to be used at the edge of the sidewalk and relates in particular to a universal anti-waste device for a street drain.
In urban areas, rainwater and runoff water are generally collected either through grates located at road level, or through drains located at the edge of sidewalks. The water which enters through these grids or drains is collected in a buried structure in the form of a tank and connected to an evacuation conduit such as a sewer. The sewer collects water and evacuates it either to treatment plants or to the natural environment. Rainwater and runoff are generally loaded with a large quantity of waste such as pollutants released onto the roads by vehicles, such as hydrocarbons, and waste of all kinds ranging from polystyrene balls to cigarette butts to to the plastic bottle.
The drains are controlled using easily removable manholes or access hatches which are located on a larger plate whose edges generally rest on the edges of the buried structure.
There are filtering devices suitable for rainwater or runoff collection vents placed inside and at the entrance to the buried structure. Examples of such devices are described in the documents cited below.
Document US6086758 describes a filtering system comprising a filter placed inside a basket suspended from a frame positioned under a drain grate at the top of the inlet of a storm sewer.
Document US4419232 describes a device comprising a retaining ring intended to be mounted under the drain grid and allowing the attachment of a coarse filtration means and a fine filtration means.
The disadvantage of these devices lies in the dimension of the frame which must be adapted to the size of the entrance to the buried structure in order to be able to be installed on an existing structure.
To resolve this drawback, there are devices whose frame on which the filter rests is provided with suitable means so that the device can be adjusted to buried structures of different dimensions. This is the case of the device described in document US2019/358564 in which the frame on which the filter is fixed has L-shaped elements which slide relative to each other.
Likewise, the device described in document US10844588 comprises a filter such as a basket suspended from a frame under a drain grid. This document describes a device adapted for a rainwater drain comprising a filter bag installed removably in a basket. The filter is easily extracted using a flexible handle and rests on a peripheral frame that is adjustable using telescopic rods which allow the frame to be adapted to different entrance sizes for buried structures.
However, in these devices, the size of the frame is adapted to the size of the buried structure without the inlet section of the filter basket being adapted, which implies that the size of the inlet surface of the filter basket is always the same, whatever the size of the frame. This implies that the size of the filter basket is not always maximum in relation to the size of the frame which supports it. In addition, removal of the frame is not possible through the access window and requires removal of the grille or top plate.
In the case of a rectangular or canopy plate sealed at the edge of a sidewalk drain, only a circular access window on the plate allows access to the buried structure. The devices mentioned above are not all suitable for such plates.
This is why the aim of the invention is to overcome these drawbacks by providing a filtering device for a drain comprising a filter basket of maximum inlet surface size relative to the frame on which it rests and adapted to pass through the access hatches of all sizes.
Another aim of the invention is to provide a method for collecting waste in runoff water coming from a drain or a grid and falling into a buried structure.
The object of the invention is therefore a filtration device intended to be installed and fixed in a buried structure for collecting runoff water by means of fixing means on which a filter basket is placed, the device comprising a frame supporting the filter basket provided with an opening to collect waste carried by runoff water. According to the main characteristics of the invention, the opening of the filter basket is attached to the periphery of the frame and the frame is foldable so that in the folded position, its bulk is reduced and minimal.
- fold the frame by gripping it by a lifting means located on its central axis,
- pass the frame fitted with the filter basket through the access hole in the buried structure,
- lower the frame into the buried structure and place it on fixing means previously installed in the buried structure.
The aims, objects and characteristics of the invention will appear more clearly on reading the description which follows, made with reference to the drawings in which:
Initially, it should be clearly understood that the same reference numbers are intended to identify the same structural elements, parts or surfaces consistently across different figures in the drawing, as such elements, parts or surfaces may be further described or explained by the entire written specification, of which this detailed description forms an integral part.
As used in the description, the terms "horizontal", "vertical", "left", "right", "top" and "bottom", as well as their adjectival and adverbial derivatives (for example, "horizontally", " right", "up", etc.), simply refer to the orientation of the illustrated structure when the particular drawing figure faces the reader.
Likewise, the terms "inward" and "outward" generally refer to the orientation of a surface relative to its axis of elongation, or axis of rotation, as the case may be.
The crossbar includes a lifting means 145 such as a hole or a handle. The frame 100 includes lifting means 145 and automatically folds when gripped and pulled upward by the lifting means until the frame is no longer resting on the fixing means 400. When the frame 100 is grasped by the lifting means 145 and pulled upwards, the frame folds automatically as soon as it is no longer placed on its fixing means.
La partie des supports 120 dépassant du cadre vers l’extérieur forme un plan d’appui permettant de poser le cadre de façon stable sur au moins deux moyens de fixation 400.The frame 100 comprises in each of its corners a support 120 in the form, for example, of a plate welded to the frame of the frame and projecting from the frame towards the inside and towards the outside. On the interior side of the frame, the supports 120 comprise a fixing means such as a hole 125. The part of the supports 120 projecting outwards from the frame forms a support plane making it possible to place the frame stably on at least two fixing means 400.
An opening means 150 is attached to the frame and makes it possible to place the frame in the unfolded position automatically as soon as the frame is grasped by this means. This opening means 150 can be a strap of length greater than the longitudinal length of the frame, attached to the outer edges of each of the parts 110 and 115 by connecting the transverse side edges 112 and 117 of the frame 100. This opening means 150. As will be seen later, the length of the strap 150 is preferably much greater than the longitudinal length of the frame. The length of the strap is for example between 2 and 4 times the length of the frame.
The filter basket preferably has a shape flared upwards so that between its opening 210 through which the water loaded with waste enters and the face of the bottom 250, the passage surface inside the net, also designated by passage section, decreases in a ratio between 1.5 and 3. This characteristic has the advantage of preventing the bottom of the filter basket made of mesh, therefore in a flexible material, from swelling more than the rest of the filter basket under the effect of the weight of the waste as it is filled and to prevent it from getting stuck in the buried structure.
The net constituting the filter basket 200 is composed of at least two parts having a different mesh size, the part having the largest mesh size being located on the side of the opening 210 of the filter basket 200, therefore above the part of the net with the smallest mesh size. A first part 220 of the filter basket 200 is made up of meshes of dimensions between 10 and 20 mm while the second part 230 of the bottom of the net is made up of meshes of dimensions between 1 and 2 mm, which allows two levels of filtration , smaller waste, such as cigarette butts and polystyrene balls, tending to sink to the bottom of the net.
D’autre part, le panier filtrant en filet ne gêne pas, de par sa souplesse, le pliage et le dépliage du cadre 100.The opening 210 of the filter basket 200 is securely attached to the periphery of the frame 100 such that the periphery of the opening 210 corresponds to the periphery of the frame and that the inlet 210 of the filter basket is kept open on the frame, the surface of the opening 210 being maximum in relation to the size of the frame. Compared to a conventional rigid basket, the mesh filter basket reduces the total weight of the device while providing maximum storage volume. On the other hand, the mesh filter basket does not interfere, due to its flexibility, with the folding and unfolding of the frame 100.
The filtration device according to the invention is set up according to the steps described below.
The fixing means 400 are placed between two walls of the buried structure. The length of each fixing means is adjusted as a function of the distance of the two walls thanks to the threaded rod 410 so that the two stops 420 exert pressure against the two walls which face each other. During installation, the threaded screw can be cut to the correct length according to the dimensions of the buried structure. The fixing means 400 are “fixed” to the wall by pressure on it and without drilling. The two fixing means 400 necessary to support a frame 100 are therefore placed on the right and left, preferably on the same horizontal plane, and spaced apart from each other such that two supports 120 on the left and right of the frame 100 rest on each of the fixing means 400. The fixing means 400 of the frame 100 can be located 1 m under the access manhole.
Fixing means 400 are also placed between the walls of the buried structure to install deflectors 300. Each deflector is a sheet metal plate whose dimensions are adapted for each installation. The sheet metal plate is solid or micro-perforated so as to allow water to pass through the micro-perforations, but not waste. At least two deflectors are placed in the upper part of the buried structure, at a distance between 10 and 30 cm vertically above the frame 100 and inclined from the outside towards the inside of the buried structure so that the waste are directed towards the inlet of the filter basket 200. The free zones in height between the deflectors and the frame make it possible to guarantee the natural downward evacuation of runoff water up to the mouth 18. Each deflector is placed on at least two fixing means 400 and held to them thanks to at least one magnetic intermediate piece. The magnetic intermediate part is movable and inserted between a fixing means and the deflector. This magnetic intermediate part keeps the deflector in place and guarantees that the deflectors are held in place on their fixing means 400 while simplifying their dismantling during maintenance visits.
Dans notre exemple, la largeur du cadre est inférieure ou égale à 40 cm.When the canopy is sealed, only the access manhole 12 allows intervention in the buried structure, but its dimensions are limited according to road uses to a disc with a diameter of 42 cm. The frame fitted with the filter basket is adapted to pass through the access hole in the folded position. The width of the frame 100 is dimensioned so as to be less than the diameter of the access manhole. In our example, the width of the frame is less than or equal to 40 cm.
The frame 100 is then installed on its fixing means. The frame 100 provided with its filter basket 200 is held by a person by the central bar using the lifting means 145 and the two parts 110 and 115 of the frame 100 naturally fold towards each other by the effect of gravity, the pivot means being free to rotate downwards. The folded frame and its filter basket are then introduced into the buried structure 17 through the access manhole 12 and lowered under the deflectors. The person then grabs the strap 150, using a gaff or a hook, and pulls it upwards to unfold the frame to its flat and blocked position allowing the total opening of the entrance to the filter basket. The frame is then positioned and placed on the fixing means provided for this purpose. If the length of the strap is sufficiently long, the person can also maintain part of the strap 150 outside the buried structure during the entire descent of the frame but must ensure that the strap does not tighten before the frame has reached the appropriate height in the buried structure.
During the emptying operation of the filter basket 200, the person in charge grasps the frame 100 by the lifting means 145 using a gaff or a handle fitted with a hook and pulls upwards. Under the effect of gravity, the frame folds and the two parts 110 and 115 of the frame move towards each other. The frame in the folded position has a minimum footprint and keeps the entrance to the basket closed, thus preventing waste from coming out. The frame can then be raised to the outside of the buried structure and passed through the access manhole 12 thanks to its reduced size. The filter basket 200 can then be easily emptied.
The device according to the invention has the advantage of being able to be handled by a single person without having to bend down, therefore while maintaining good working postures.
Each filtration device according to the invention installed on site is equipped with a filling level sensor of the filter basket 200 and identification means such as radio frequency identification means. The radio frequency identification means allow the remote transmission of the filling level of the filter basket to a data management and online monitoring platform, at regular time intervals, in order to plan the emptying operations of the filtration device when the filling level of the filter basket reached is considered as the maximum admissible filling level. In order not to hinder the folding of the frame, the filling threshold of the filter basket, or maximum admissible filling level not to be exceeded, is generally located at half the height of the filter basket.
The length of the filter basket must be at least equal to the length of the unfolded frame so that, once full over half its length, the frame can be folded completely onto the net without being hampered by the waste contained within. For example, for a frame with an unfolded length of 90 cm, its folded length will be 45 cm, the length of the net must be at least equal to 90 cm.
When the level of waste in the filter basket has reached the maximum admissible level, the filter basket is emptied by suction of the waste. During the vacuum emptying operation, the filter basket net remains in place.
The filtration device according to the invention has the advantage of being able to be adapted to any type of buried structure, even old ones, and of any size.
In addition, the filtration device according to the invention is removable and can be removed from the buried structure easily.
