Abstract

Procédé de caractérisation d’une source de neutrons (5), la caractérisation étant destinée à déterminer un spectre d’émission de la source (A), le procédé comportant: disposition de plusieurs détecteurs (10i) respectivement à plusieurs distances (di) de la source ; durant une période de mesure, détection de neutrons émis par la source, chaque détection générant une impulsion par le détecteur ;formation d’un spectre de détection (Si) pour chaque détecteur; estimation du spectre d’émission (A) de la source à partir des spectres de détection (Si) résultant de c) ; le procédé étant tel que, pour chaque détecteur : le matériau de détection (11i) est un scintillateur organique ayant fait l’objet d’une adjonction d’un isotope propice à la détection de neutrons thermiques ; l’étape c) comporte une discrimination entre des impulsions résultant respectivement de détections de neutrons thermiques, de neutrons rapides et de photons gamma.
