Abstract

Hand protection system against bacteriological or radiological viral contamination

The invention relates to a protective glove against contamination of various origins such as viral, bacteriological, chemical, radiological or other contamination, making it possible to avoid a transfer of contamination when handling contaminated objects or sterile, between the user and the object handled.

PRIOR ART

In the field of protection against contamination, one solution consists in using a multifunction tool interposed between the user and the object to be handled. The tool is then held by the user who actuates it to ensure gripping of the object to be handled, which makes it possible to provide protection because the tool is interposed between the user and the object.

Such a tool nevertheless offers insufficient ergonomics for carrying out tasks requiring manipulation of small objects. For example, it makes it difficult to handle an opening or a handle, and does not allow you to handle keys, change, or even write with a pen.

Another solution is to use a single-use glove forming a barrier, in order to have sufficient dexterity to, for example, handle a pen in order to take notes.

Nevertheless, as the glove is then in direct contact with the contamination, it must after use be placed in an appropriate container, in order to confine the contamination. Thus, the use of single-use gloves is ultimately not really practical because it requires the presence of an appropriate container, such as a specific bin, to be able to confine the glove after use.

The object of the invention is to provide a solution for handling objects without the risk of contamination transfer.

To this end, the subject of the invention is a protection system comprising a glove having a wrist extended by a body terminated by fingers, and an envelope comprising a base extended by a body terminated by one end, the glove defining a sealed enclosure , the envelope delimiting a sealed enclosure, the system being able to occupy a containment configuration in which the envelope surrounds the deployed glove and in which the wrist of the glove is connected in a sealed manner to the base of the envelope, and a configuration of use in which the body and the fingers of the deployed glove are disengaged from the envelope.

With this arrangement, the system makes it possible to handle and transport objects, and it does not require having a specific container such as a dedicated garbage bag, since the envelope alone ensures the confinement of the glove. It also allows its reuse as needed without risk of contamination.

The invention also relates to a system thus defined, in which the wrist of the glove is continuously connected in a sealed manner to the base of the envelope, in which the end of the envelope is equipped with a closure, and in which in the configuration of use, the closure of the end is open and the envelope surrounds the wrist of the glove.

The invention also relates to a system thus defined, in which the glove is equipped with a closure of its wrist.

The invention also relates to a system thus defined, comprising a closure of the end of the envelope and/or of the wrist which is of the zipper type.

DETAILED DISCUSSION OF PARTICULAR EMBODIMENTS

The basic idea of the invention is to provide a system comprising a glove associated with an envelope in which this glove can be confined, the glove and the envelope both offering sufficient sealing to constitute a barrier to contamination. The envelope protects the glove after use to prevent any contamination between this glove and the surrounding environment.

On the , a glove 1 is surrounded by an envelope 2, the glove 1 and the envelope 2 being both formed from a material forming a barrier to viral, bacteriological, chemical, radiological or other contamination depending on the desired application.

This glove 1 comprises a wrist 3 extended by a body 4 terminated by five fingers 6-10. The envelope 2 comprises a base 12 by which it is connected to the wrist 3, this base 12 being extended by a body 13 which ends in an end 14 equipped with a closure 16.

Optionally, the wrist 3 is also equipped with a closure marked 17 and making it possible to increase the degree of confinement when it is closed. The closures 16 and 17 are, for example, zipper type closures.

In the configuration of the , the envelope 2 surrounds the glove 1, and its end 14 is closed by the closure 16, so that the contamination that may be present on the outer surface of the glove is isolated from the environment by the envelope 2. In other words, the contamination is confined in the space located between the glove 1 and the envelope 2 which surrounds it.

As visible on this , the envelope has dimensions greater than those of the glove so as to surround the entire glove in its deployed state.

The use of the glove by an operator consists initially in opening the closure 17 of the wrist 3 and in engaging his hand, marked with 18, in the wrist 3 to slide it into the glove 1, each finger of the hand 18 s 'engaging in a corresponding finger 6-10 of the glove 1, which corresponds to the situation of the .

Once this operation has been carried out, the operator opens the end 14 of the casing 2 by actuating the closure 16 to engage his hand 18 wearing the glove 1 through this end. He then slides his hand through the open closure 16 until he brings this closure 16 around the wrist 3, which corresponds to the situation of the .

At this stage, and as visible on the , the envelope 2 is then folded like an accordion around the wrist 3 extending between the closure 17 and the closure 16, both open, which are then substantially one against the other. The outer surface of the glove 1 is then completely exposed, which allows the operator to grasp and handle an object that may be contaminated, while having his hand protected from this contamination by the glove 1 that he is wearing.

Once the operator has finished manipulating the object, he uses his second hand to deploy the envelope 2 by sliding the closure 16 around the glove 1 towards the fingers so as to arrive again at the situation of the after having closed the closure 16. At this stage, the operator releases his first hand 18 from the glove 1 which is then bagged in the closed envelope 2, so as to arrive at the situation of the in which any contamination present on the outer face of the glove 1 is confined in the envelope 2.

As can be understood, it is also possible, in a similar way, to seize with the glove 1 a contaminated object having a size compatible with that of the envelope 2 to bag this object in the envelope 2 with the glove 1 Conversely, the system can also be used to bag a sterile object in the envelope.

Alternatively, and as shown in Figures 4 to 6, the casing 2 has its free end 14 which is closed and its base 12 and it is extended by a collar 19 for connection to the wrist so as to make the casing 2 detachable from the glove 1.

There too, and as visible on the , the envelope has dimensions greater than that of the glove so as to be able to surround the entire glove in its deployed state.

In this variant, the cuff 3 is equipped with a base 21 capable of coupling in a leaktight manner to the collar 19 so as to connect the base 12 of the envelope 2 with the cuff 3 of the glove.

The collar 19 is for example a rigid ring continuously attached to the base 12 to delimit the opening of the casing 2 with reversible fixing means to the base 21. The base 21 is for example also formed of a rigid or flexible ring which is continuously secured to the wrist 3 to delimit the opening of the glove 1, and it comprises complementary fastening means allowing its reversible fastening to the collar 19.

The fixing of the collar 19 to the base 21 can be ensured by constituting these two elements in the form of magnetic rings capable of sticking to each other when they are close to each other. Other fastening means can be used, such as staples or the like carried by one and/or the other of these elements.

In the example of Figures 4 to 6, the envelope 2 also has the shape of a muffle. More specifically, this envelope also comprises a base 12 extended by a body 13 terminated by a closed end 14 which is opposite the base 12.

The body 13 of the envelope 2 is here extended laterally by a protrusion 22 receiving the thumb 6 of the glove 1, the fingers 7-10 of the glove 1 being housed in the end 14, when this envelope 2 surrounds the glove 1.

Thus, and as visible on the , the envelope 2 constitutes a mitten, so that when the user places his hand 18 inside the glove 1 by sliding it into the wrist 3 through the base 21, he can use his thumb to perform manipulations without first removing the envelope 2.

In practice, once the user has placed his hand in the glove 1 surrounded by the envelope 2 in the form of a mitten, he then removes this envelope, for example by pulling its end 14 with his free hand, to separate the collar 19 of the base 21 so as to slide the envelope along the glove 1.

At this stage, the hand 18 of the user is located in the glove 1, so that he has significant dexterity with each of his fingers to manipulate an object, such as for example a pen to take notes on a suitable medium.

Once the user has finished his manipulations, he can then replace the envelope 2 around the glove 1 to confine the contamination present on the outer face of the glove, in the space extending between the glove and the envelope, this space being hermetically closed thanks to the leaktight connection of the collar 19 to the base 21.

In the example of Figures 4 to 6, the envelope 2 has the shape of a muffle, but the same solution can be implemented by using a simple envelope, that is to say having the general shape of the envelope of Figures 1 to 3 but whose end 14 is continuously closed instead of being equipped with a closure member 16.

Furthermore, the envelope 2 which has the shape of a mitten in the example of FIGS. 4-6, can also be an envelope having the shape of an overglove, that is to say a glove surrounding each of the fingers 6-10 , so as to offer the user greater dexterity for the phase during which he engaged his hand 18 in the glove 1 before removing the envelope 2 surrounding this glove 1.

Thus, depending on the application envisaged, the envelope 2 has the shape of a sachet as in the case of FIGS. 1 to 3, or else a shape of a mitten as in the example of FIGS. 4 to 6, or even a shape of an overglove. . In the case of an envelope in the form of a sachet or a mitt, the envelope makes it possible, as indicated above, to confine a contaminated or sterile object having an appropriate size, between the glove and the envelope which surrounds it.

The variant of the invention shown in Figures 4 to 6 allows a user to equip his second hand with another glove without the risk of contamination transfer.

In this case, the procedure for putting on and taking off a glove on each hand corresponds to the following operations.

When a first clean glove is available, place a first glove equipped with a base 21 on a first hand, then place another clean glove on the second hand with or without its base 21 using the first gloved hand, then perform the manipulations on objects that may be contaminated.

Once the manipulations are finished, remove the second glove from the second hand by holding it with the first hand equipped with the first glove. Then with the second hand, position the envelope equipped with the collar 19 around the first hand equipped with the first glove and which also holds the second soiled glove, and connect the base 21 to the collar 19 using the second hand.

Remove the assembly formed by the envelope surrounding the first glove and the second glove, using the second hand. The first soiled glove is then entirely surrounded by the envelope, and the second soiled glove is entirely confined in the space delimited by the first glove and the envelope with possibly an object to be confined.

To reuse the assembly formed by the first glove and the second glove confined in the envelope, the operator uses his second hand to place the assembly on his first hand by engaging this first hand in the first glove surrounded by the envelope. .

He then uses his second hand to remove the envelope, before using his first gloved hand to place on his second hand the second glove which was also contained in the envelope. At this stage, the operator has both gloved hands, so that he can handle objects likely to be contaminated. The assembly is then removed as explained above.

Depending on the situation, the operator can preferably use a second sterile (or new) glove, given that the second glove contained in the envelope can be considered to be contaminated, in particular if it does not include a closure at the level of its wrist.

As illustrated in Figures 7 to 9, the base 21 fitted to the wrist 3 of the glove 1 is advantageously formed with a central ring 23 and a peripheral ring 24 allowing the end of the wrist 3 of the glove to be gripped.

More particularly, and as visible on the , the central ring 23 which here is cylindrical, has an internal perimeter substantially greater than the perimeter of the wrist 3, which makes it possible to engage the wrist 3 of the glove 1 inside this ring 23, as illustrated in the .

The end 26 of this wrist 3 can then be folded around the outer face of the ring 23, which corresponds to the situation illustrated on the , the central ring 23 then equipping the wrist 3 without yet being attached to the latter.

The peripheral ring 24 has an internal diameter slightly smaller than the external diameter of the central ring 23, and it is made of a sufficiently elastic material to allow it to be deformed so that its internal diameter becomes at least slightly greater than the external diameter of the ring 23 increased by twice the thickness of the end 26.

Thus, and as illustrated in the , the peripheral ring 24 can be passed around the assembly formed by the central ring 23 around which the end 26 of the wrist 3 is folded, so as to firmly grip this end 26.

At this stage corresponding to the , the central ring 23 forms with the end 26 of the wrist 3 enclosed by the peripheral ring 24 an integral whole constituting the base 21 fitted to the glove 1.

The collar 19 fitted to the base 12 of the envelope 2 is advantageously of the same type as the base 21, that is to say also formed of a central ring and a peripheral ring enclosing the base 12 of the envelope 2 against the outer face of this central ring.

The rings are advantageously equipped with fastening means making it possible to ensure the reversible fastening of the collar 19 with the base 21. In this context, the central and/or peripheral rings forming the collar and the base can be formed in magnetic materials thus making it possible to secure the collar to the base by keeping them pressed against each other by magnetic attraction.

The outer ring which appears as a rigid element on the can be reduced to a simple elastic, fasteners then being carried by the central rings.

The constitution of the base 21 and the collar 19 by means of rings, as explained in relation to FIGS. 7 to 9, makes it possible to reuse the base and the collar to change only the glove and the envelope when those - these are out of order.

The recovery of a base 21 fitted to a glove 1 then consists in positioning the assembly formed by the envelope 2 with its collar 19, this envelope containing the glove 1 which is equipped with the base 21 formed of the rings 23 and 24, without engaging his hand in the set. The peripheral ring 24 of the base 21 can then be removed from this base 21 to release the glove 1, the wrist 3 of which can be sealed for example with a knot or pliers, before pulling this glove towards the bottom of the envelope 2. The central ring 23 of the glove 1 can then be detached from the collar 19 of the envelope 2, and be joined with the peripheral ring 24 to form a base 21 that can be reused.

Similarly, the recovery of the collar 19 fitted to the casing 2 then consists in removing the peripheral ring of this collar 19, sealing the base of the casing protruding from the central ring of the collar 19, for example with a knot, and removing the envelope from this central ring. The central ring can then be joined with the peripheral ring to form the collar 19 which can be reused.

As shown in the description which has been made of it, all the elements constituting the system according to the invention are simple, so that its industrial manufacture can be ensured at low cost. The material of the glove and of the envelope is easily adaptable to the application envisaged, this material being, for example, butyl, vinyl, latex or other similar material. More generally, the material of the glove and of the envelope is of the waterproof type, in particular to water, so that the glove as well as the envelope both delimit a sealed enclosure.

Furthermore, the procedures that have been described are provided for information only, they can be adapted as needed. It is for example also possible to decontaminate the glove 1 before bagging it in the envelope 2, by using a soaked wipe which may be present in the envelope, this wipe being able to be soaked beforehand with a disinfectant.

In addition, the envelope is advantageously equipped with a filtration system allowing the air to be expelled from it when it is closed while ensuring confinement inside this envelope.

In general, the invention applies to all operations requiring protection against transfer of contamination by the hands. The system makes it possible to handle and transport small objects safely. It allows samples to be taken without contamination, and can be easily folded and stored in a pocket. It is reusable and does not require a specific container such as a dedicated trash bag.
