Abstract

This invention allows the continuous disinfection at a high rate of objects whose shapes and 3 dimensions can vary within certain limits. By disinfection, we mean the destruction of microorganisms (viruses and bacteria) in a proportion of 90% to 99% on the outer surface of the object. The principle of the invention is to subject any point on the different faces of the object to UVc ultraviolet radiation with an approximate wavelength of 260 nm at a minimum dose of 150 J/m². In order to allow continuous processing, the objects are placed on a conveyor moving at a constant speed. The lamps generating UVc radiation are brought as close as possible to the surfaces of the object in order to deliver the necessary dose in a limited time. The invention includes all the protections making it possible to protect people from the radiation emitted. The device that is the subject of the invention can be used either in stand-alone mode or integrated into a conveying system. It is divided into 7 functional areas: Dropping of the object or upstream interface; Entry airlock for the protection of people; Orientation of the object, centering, timing and measurement; Treatment of the front face and the rear face at the using two slave gantries; Treatment of the lower, upper and lateral faces; Exit lock for the protection of people; Withdrawal of the object or downstream interface.
