Serveur multimédia destiné à être embarqué à bord d’un aéronef, système électronique de divertissement comprenant un tel serveur, procédé de configuration logicielle d’un tel serveur et programme d’ordinateur associé Ce serveur multimédia destiné à être embarqué à bord d’un aéronef comprend au moins une carte commutateur réseau (30, SW) configurée pour gérer des communications avec au moins un réseau parmi un réseau local embarqué et un réseau de communication externe ; et au moins une autre carte électronique (32) choisie parmi le groupe consistant en : une carte de stockage de données (S) et une carte de calcul (C). Au moins une carte commutateur réseau (30, SW) comporte également un module de configuration logicielle (60) adapté pour obtenir une liste de fonction(s) logicielle(s) à installer sur au moins une autre carte électronique (32) ; pour télécharger, de la part d’un équipement électronique externe au serveur multimédia, la ou les fonctions logicielles à partir de la liste obtenue ; et pour fournir à chaque autre carte électronique (32) respective la ou les fonctions logicielles téléchargées correspondantes.
