L’état des technologies relatives aux dispositifs de maintien des éléments horizontaux de sécurité peuvent se distinguer selon deux familles technologiques :
- La première relative au principe de fixation par blocage volontaire qui permet de maintenir la lisse sur le poteau ou le montant avec une action d’une deuxième main ou bien encore dans un deuxième temps.

La deuxième famille mentionne un principe de positionnement de la lisse et de maintien de celle-ci pour laquelle nous pouvons citer le brevet FR2895003 «Potelet garde-corps de sécurité » qui présente l’avantage de maintenir la lisse après sa mise en position mais qui présente deux autres inconvénients :
- le premier est que le dispositif ne bloque pas totalement la protection horizontale, la fixation ne disposant pas de fermeture sur le haut de la protection, la protection horizontale peut à tout moment et par un geste involontaire sortir de son logement, ce qui annihile l’objet même de sa présence (sécurité des personnes),
le deuxième est que ce dispositif est vétuste, se basant sur un ressort placé dans la cuvette recevant la protection horizontale, qui ressort pouvant très facilement être déformé par chocs résultants des manipulations successives sur le chantier.The second family mentions a principle of positioning the rail and maintaining it for which we can cite the patent FR2895003 "Safety railing post" which has the advantage of maintaining the rail after it has been put in position but which has two other drawbacks:

- un bloqueur(e) composé d’un plat recourbé (f) avec au moins 3 ouvertures (g) en son centre qui correspondent aux passage des tubes et du (ou des) clinquant, ce bloqueur (e) est traversé par les montants (a) et le clinquant (d) aux fins de se déplacer pour bloquer verticalement la protection horizontale (h),
- la distance (i) entre le cliquant (d) et l'un des montant (a) est telle qu'elle peut accepter toute dimension de protection horizontale (h), en forçant sa mise en place par le déplacement transversal du clinquant (d) qui maintien par coincement la dite protection horizontale (h),
- dans le même mouvement le bloqueur (e) se positionne sur la protection horizontale (h) par gravité.
