Abstract

The disclosed embodiments measure a force exerted on the central strap (22) or singles post (43) by the net (20). In these embodiments, the measured force provides an accurate reflection of the tension of the net (20). The system uses a button press of one of a handset and a tablet to arm the let detection function, wherein the indication step is performed only when the let detection function has been armed; and a press of one button on the handset and tablet to control a shot timer to help enforce a time limit imposed on a player at different stages of a tennis match.
