An article (100) for protecting the hand against abrasion and crushing produced by the handling of hangers suspended from a lateral edge of the hand, characterized in that it comprises a part of glove covering at least one proximal region of the thumb (10) and a proximal region of the index finger (12), and in that:

- The glove part comprises a reinforced part (120) and an unreinforced part (124) extending around the reinforced part;

- The reinforced part extends in a region of the lateral edge of the hand between the thumb (10) and the index finger (12);

- the unreinforced part extends over the rest of the glove part; and

- The deformability of the unreinforced part (124) is greater than that of the reinforced part (120).

2. The article of claim 1, wherein the reinforced portion (120) extends over the region of the lateral edge of the hand located at the transverse adductor muscle and the short flexor muscle of the thumb.

3. The article of claim 1, wherein the glove portion extends distally along the thumb and forefinger over a region (114) of the hand covering at least the first phalanx of the thumb (10 ), and also on a region (116) of the hand covering at least the first phalanx of the index finger (12).

4. The article of claim 3, wherein the glove portion extending over the region (116) of the hand covering at least the first phalanx of the index finger (12) comprises an additional reinforced portion (122).

5. The article of claim 4, wherein the reinforced part (120) and the additional reinforced part (122) are not adjoining.

6. The article of claim 1, wherein the reinforced portion (120) extends in a lateral direction over a region of the hand covering the second and third metacarpals.

7. The article of claim 1, wherein the reinforced portion (120) includes a yoke incorporating a layer of foam material (130).

8. The article of claim 7, wherein the density of the foam (130) is at least 50 kg / m ³ , preferably at least 100 kg / m ³ .

9. The article of claim 7, wherein the thickness of the foam (130) is at least 2 mm, preferably 3 mm.

The article of claim 4 and claim 7 taken in combination, wherein the foam thickness of the additional reinforced portion (122) covering at least the first phalanx of the index finger is less than the thickness of foam of the reinforced part (120) extending in the region of the lateral edge of the hand between the thumb and forefinger.

The article of claim 1, further comprising a means for additional retention of the glove part on the hand, of the group comprising: foldable fixing tab (142), adjoining the glove part on the medial side and provided with '' a fastening with hook or loop fastening; elastic or adjustable peripheral cuff (140) adjoining the glove part at the wrist; elastic or adjustable lateral strap (144), adjoining the glove part on the medial side and connecting a palmar edge and a dorsal edge of the glove part.
