L'invention concerne un dilatomètre à gaz (100) comprenant : une chambre (110) à volume constant contenant un liquide (111) et un gaz (112), ladite chambre comportant : un élément de fixation (122) auquel est destinée à être attachée une éprouvette (123), une tige verticale (150) fixée à l'éprouvette, ladite tige (150) étant au moins partiellement immergée dans le liquide, une traverse (130) mobile en translation fixée à la tige, la traverse s'étendant transversalement par rapport à la tige et séparant la chambre en deux compartiments (141, 142), chacun des compartiments étant délimité latéralement au moins partiellement par une paroi déformable (141a, 142a) fixée à la traverse, la traverse comprenant en outre une ouverture (132) mettant en communication fluidique les deux compartiments ; un dispositif de déplacement (106) configuré pour déplacer la traverse en translation verticale ; et un capteur de pression (160) relié à la chambre.
