Abstract

The present invention relates to a furniture protection (1) comprising a sheet (10) of a plastics material on which a plurality of corrugations (11) extending along the sheet, two perpendicular directions (X, Y). A protection according to the invention allows its installation on any piece of furniture since the plastic sheet can be folded to form a flap in one or the other of the two directions of the flutes in order to adapt the shape of the sheet to the shape of the furniture. The grooves in two perpendicular directions form a grid-shaped pattern having a plurality of tiles delimited between them by the grooves. The tiles can be cut according to the splines and separated from the sheet to give access to the furniture, including electrical outlets or handles furniture.

Description

FURNITURE PROTECTION

The present invention relates to furniture protection, in particular furniture of an aircraft cabin. The furnishing of an aircraft cabin includes various pieces of furniture such as counters, washbasins, storage furniture for the cabin crew's business or partitions.

This furniture must be protected from traces or scratches that could be generated by the passage of personnel finalizing the development of the cabin before the delivery of the aircraft to a customer. For this purpose, it is common to protect a piece of furniture by self-adhesive foam panels affixed against the walls of the piece of furniture and cut to the dimensions of the piece of furniture.

The present invention aims at improving furniture protection. To this end, the invention relates to a furniture protection comprising a sheet of a plastic material on which are formed multiple grooves extending along both sides along the sheet of two perpendicular directions.

A protection according to the invention allows its installation on any piece of furniture since the plastic sheet can be folded in a groove located at an edge of the piece of furniture to form a flap to adopt the shape of the sheet to the shape furniture.

The flutes form a grid pattern comprising a plurality of tiles. The tiles can be cut according to the splines and separated from the sheet to give access to the furniture through the protection, including electrical outlets or handles furniture. Other advantages and features of the invention will become apparent in the detailed non-limiting description below.

This description will be made with reference to the appended drawings in which: FIG. 1 is a schematic view of a furniture protection according to one embodiment of the invention, in which said protection is in the form of a sheet in which splines made on said sheet form a grid pattern; FIG. 2 is a schematic view of an aircraft cabin comprising furniture protected by furniture protections according to FIG. 1.

Referring to Figure 1, a furniture protection 1 according to the invention is in the form of a sheet 10 of plastic material on which are arranged grooves 11 extending along the sheet 10 in two perpendicular directions X Y. The flutes 11 thus form a grid-like pattern comprising a plurality of tiles 12 delimited by the flutes.

In the embodiment illustrated in FIG. 1, it will be noted that the sheet 10 has a parallelepipedal shape where the flutes 11 extend along the entire length (in the Y direction) and the entire width (in the X direction) of the leaf and form a grid pattern. The grid pattern is obtained by spacing the splines together by a constant and identical pitch p for the splines 11 extending along the width and the grooves extending along the length of the sheet 10.

By groove, it is understood a furrow or a streak dug in the sheet. The flutes 11 are made by pressing and can be made only on one of the faces of the sheet 10, but are preferably made on both sides of the sheet with, in this case, splines 11 symmetrical to each other compared to the plane of the sheet 10.

In order to affix the furniture protection 1 to a piece of furniture, a face of the sheet 10 is for example self-adhesive. Alternatively, the sheet 10 is simply attached to the furniture via an adhesive tape or with a double-sided adhesive.

Preferably, the sheet 10 is made of polypropylene with a density of between 500 g / cm 2 and 1000 g / cm 2 for a thickness of between 3 mm and 5 mm. The flutes 11 have a thickness of between 0.3 and 1 mm and the tiles 12 have a dimension of 50mm by 50mm.

With reference to FIG. 2, furniture protectors 1c-1c according to the invention may be attached to furniture units 30, 31, 32 arranged in an aircraft cabin 40 in order to protect them.

A furniture protection is particularly attached to a central partition 31 while a furniture protection lb, lc is attached to each toilet chamber 30,32 arranged on each side of the cabin 40 on either side of the partition central 31. The furniture protections la-c are arranged so that the flutes 11 extend in a vertical direction X or horizontal Y of the cabin 40.

For the central partition 31 of flat shape, the sheet 21 of the furniture protection is fixed on said partition and cut to the dimensions of the latter using the grooves as lines for cutting.

For a 30.32 toilet box that extends in three dimensions, the sheet 20,22 of the furniture protection lb-c of said box is folded (thus forming a flap 20a, 22a) along a groove 11 located at the level of an edge 30a, 32a of the box in order to match the shape of said box. Foam protectors may be affixed to the ridges 30a, 32a, above the sheets 20, 22 to provide additional protection.

Some tiles 12 can be removed from the sheets of the furniture protections 20-22, to allow free access to furniture elements such as handles 50 or cable passages 51. A tile 12 is removed by a cutting of the sheet 20 -22 at the flutes 11 which delimit the tile 12. The cutting of the sheet at the flutes is facilitated by the small thickness of the sheet 20-22 at the flutes 11.
