La présente invention concerne un lanceur (3) pour démarreur (1) de véhicule automobile comprenant : - une douille (23) comportant un épaulement (29) et un élément d'arrêt (33), - un pignon (5) monté coulissant sur la douille (23) entre l'élément d'arrêt (33) et l'épaulement (29), - au moins un organe élastique (31) monté entre le pignon (5) et l'épaulement (29) et étant adapté pour présenter une position de repos dans laquelle le pignon (5) est en appui sur l'élément d'arrêt (33) et une position comprimée dans laquelle le pignon (5) est éloigné dudit élément d'arrêt (33), caractérisé en ce que l'organe élastique (31) est monté, dans sa position de repos, de façon à ce que le pignon (5) soit précontraint avec une charge comprise entre 40 N.m et 80 N.m.
