Procédé d'authentification d'un document ayant une première face qui est thermiquement imprimable et qui porte au moins un marquage par impression thermique, le document comportant également au moins un motif sécuritaire visible sous un rayonnement infrarouge, le procédé comprenant les étapes d'observer la première face du document alors qu'il est soumis à un rayonnement infrarouge et de : - vérifier la non-visibilité du marquage ; - vérifier par transparence la visibilité et la conformité du motif sécuritaire. Machine pour la mise en œuvre de ce procédé.
