Abstract

The present invention relates to the field of biomarkers for diseases with a heritable component, such as schizophrenia. A method according to the invention comprises the following steps: subjecting (400) sick subjects (G1) and related subjects (G2) to a visual test (10); during said test, recording eye movements using an eye movement tracker (15); determining (402), in the obtained recordings (16), a plurality of oculomotor parameters for each subject; comparing (404) the determined parameters of each subject to respective reference parameters (VS) in order to determine deficit parameters; and selecting (406), as endophenotypes, those parameters determined to be deficient for at least a predefined proportion of diseased subjects or a predefined proportion of related subjects, so as to constitute an endophenotypic patient profile (408) for said disease.
