Abstract

The method involves injecting fuel slowly in an internal combustion engine (22) during exhaust phases by carrying out combustion in a catalytic oxidation device (31). The fuel injection is inhibited when a control device (40) i.e. accelerator pedal, is in a control state controlling a main zero fuel supply. Exhaust gases are put in recirculation when a particle filter (32) is in regeneration phase and the control device is in the control state. A recirculation device (33) is arranged in a configuration, which limits cooling of circulating gases when the control device is in the control state. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle.
