Abstract

The method for splitting (20) torque between a front axle assembly (2) and a rear axle assembly (3) of a hybrid vehicle involves steps of: a. calculating (22), on the basis of a desired torque (31), a reference torque (32) for the front axle assembly and a theoretical torque (33) for the rear axle assembly; b. measuring (34) an actual torque of the front axle assembly; and c. calculating (24) a reference torque (36) for the rear axle assembly on the basis of the theoretical torque for the rear axle assembly and of the actual torque of the front axle assembly, in which method the step of calculating a reference torque for the rear axle assembly involves substeps of: i. comparing the signs of the magnitudes of the actual torque of the front axle assembly and the theoretical torque of the rear axle assembly; and ii. if the signs are opposite signs, setting the value for the reference torque for the rear axle assembly to zero.
