The present invention relates to a device for temporarily securing a gun of a caliber of between 20 and 50 millimeters to the external load carrying tower of each half-wing of a tactical transport aircraft. It considerably increases the scope of missions achievable by this type of aircraft by making it suitable for air support, without degrading its ability to transport passengers and equipment, or its performance. Infantry or Special Forces troops deployed to outside theaters usually require fire support to increase the effectiveness of their maneuvers. This fire support can be provided by artillery, combat helicopters or fighter aircraft. But these means are expensive and complex to project and implement; they are deployed sparingly despite the undeniable advantage they bring to a commitment. On the other hand, any projection of soldiers into a theater of operations systematically uses tactical transport aircraft. They transport fighters and their equipment, and occasionally participate in parachute missions, intelligence missions using optical sensors, or communication relays for the benefit of staffs. If these tactical transport aircraft were equipped with offensive weapons, they could very effectively support the troops on the ground, either to facilitate their extraction during a dangerous engagement, or to participate in the offensive maneuver.
In the current state of the art, the support of these troops on the ground can sometimes be done with an aircraft called "gunboat" (of the English "gunship"), calling on a cargo aircraft cell, but in modifying it in such a way that this aircraft becomes unfit for transport missions and exclusively specialized in support missions. The device according to the invention overcomes this disadvantage by giving tactical transport aircraft weapons carrying capacity, without structural modification of the aircraft. According to a first aspect the invention relates to an airborne fire support device on tactical transport aircraft characterized in that it consists of a nacelle comprising a turret-mobile gun in azimuth and in site, an optronic device a satellite-assisted navigation system and a fire control system to provide fully autonomous air cover for troops deployed in combat zones. According to one embodiment of the invention, the nacelle can be easily placed and removed from the aircraft according to the nature of the mission, by means of mechanical fastenings to aeronautical standards, it thus gives a tactical transport aircraft a capacity of airborne fire support without structural modification of the aircraft. The nacelle comprises all the systems necessary for its use, the only interfaces with the aircraft are limited to the power supply of the device according to the invention and to its implementation by a member of the crew. The turret, whose reference axis is perpendicular to the flight line of the aircraft, pivots in such a way that the gun can be pointed in any position within a travel of +/- 90 ° in azimuth and +/- 25 ° in site, it is normally slaved to the pointing device, while being able to be disengaged by the operator. The pivoting of the turret makes it possible to place the barrel inside a bunker fitted into the side of the nacelle, covered with a movable flap, so as to retract the barrel during the cruising flight phases and thereby increase the aerodynamic efficiency of the aircraft equipped with the device according to the invention. The implementation of the optronic means, the actuation of the turret and the firing of the barrel are made from the cockpit of the aircraft through an interface placed on the device. The turret may be equipped with a medium caliber cannon, grenade launchers or heavy machine guns, or a combination thereof. The constraints in terms of recoil resulting from the implementation of the armament are damped by a device of oscillating mass ("mass-damper") placed inside each tubular structure connecting the nacelle to the spar of the wing of the 'aircraft. According to a second aspect, the invention relates to an aircraft comprising a device according to one of the embodiments of the invention. The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention. Figure 1 shows a three-view plane of an embodiment of the invention, without the damping system. Fig. 2 shows a three-view plane of a second embodiment of the invention with the damping system. One embodiment of the invention consists of a nacelle which is secured to the pylon of load of external loads of each half-wing. This nacelle comprises a gun, a caliber between 20 and 50 millimeters, secured to a turret, a design similar to that fitted to some combat helicopters. The turret, whose reference axis is perpendicular to the flight line of the aircraft, has deflection values of between +/- 90 ° in azimuth and +/- 25 ° in elevation. According to an alternative embodiment, the turret can be equipped with heavy machine guns or a grenade launcher in addition or in place of the gun. The nacelle has two attachment hooks on its upper part and a specific interface for connecting its 30 systems to the electrical circuit of the aircraft. It is arranged so as to include: in its rear part, the gun turret; in its central part, the ammunition magazine on one side, and a hold to retract the barrel during the cruising phases, after the turret has rotated 90 °, covered with a movable flap, the other side; in its front part, an optronic pointing device (day / night cameras and laser range finder) in a gyro-stabilized ball, a satellite-assisted navigation system (GPS receiver) and a firing line for merging the data of these sensors. The nacelle also has two tubular arms on each side of its structure, equipped with dampers mass-damper ("mass-damper"), to be attached to the spar of the - 3 - wing of the aircraft, so as to dissipate the recoil effect and the structural constraints resulting from the implementation of the armament. The gun turret is slaved to the optronic pointing device in nominal configuration. They are both actuated from the cockpit of the aircraft, through a specific electrical circuit, using the trunking of the fuel control circuit additional tanks traditionally mounted under the towers of external loads of this type of aircraft. The nacelle includes all electronic, optical and navigation systems, making it independent of the aircraft. The connection to the electrical circuit of the aircraft provides energy supply, and transmits the information between the fire control of the device and the crew members, so that the latter can implement the arming. The fire control includes the optronic pointing system (target image, distance) and the satellite-assisted navigation system (GPS coordinates of the gun turret and extrapolation of those of the target). The nacelle can be put down and deposited in a few hours thanks to its fixing hooks to the aeronautical standards, similar to those of the additional fuel tanks traditionally mounted, and to the total autonomy of its firing. This pod gives an air support capacity consistent with the aircraft without burdening its transport capacity or its performance. Thus equipped, it retains all of its transport capacity and its hold does not suffer from any structural change. The only permanent modification of the aircraft is at the fastening hooks on the spar of the wing, for securing the damping arms of the device. However, when the device according to the invention is not mounted on the aircraft, they are retracted by aerodynamic covers. With reference to the drawings, the device comprises two hooks (1) making it possible to secure it to the loading pylon of external loads of the aircraft; a satellite positioning antenna (2), a gyrostabilized optronic pointing device having one or more day / night cameras and a laser range finder (3), and a firing line; an ammunition magazine (4) for feeding the barrel; a bunker for the retraction of the gun during cruising flights covered with a movable flap (5); the turret (6); the barrel (7); two damping arms (8) which fasten to the spar of the wing of the aircraft by means of specific hooks (9); and the oscillating masses located inside the damping arms (10). According to a first embodiment, the device according to the invention consists of a metal tubular frame on which the various equipment components are fixed. An aerodynamic hood made of composite materials or light metal alloy covers the whole. According to a second embodiment, not illustrated, the device according to the invention consists of a monocoque structure of light alloy or composite materials hosting all systems component. According to a variant not illustrated, the turret can be equipped with grenade launcher instead of or in addition to the barrel, or heavy machine guns. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for airborne fire support troops in combat zone.
