Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for characterizing at least one bacterium, present in a sample, wherein said method comprises at least the following steps: a) obtaining a solution containing at least one bacteriophage capable of being specific for said bacterium or bacteria to be characterized; b) bringing the solution containing said bacteriophage(s) into contact with said bacterium or bacteria to be characterized and, optionally, at least one antimicrobial agent; c) providing conditions which enable the infection of the bacteria by the bacteriophages and the multiplication of the latter inside said bacteria; d) detecting, by any suitable method, the presence of non-structural bacteriophage proteins produced during the infection of the bacteria, the presence of said non-structural proteins making it possible to characterize said bacterium or bacteria.
