Abstract
The method involves periodically measuring intensity (34) of current traversing each phase of a three-phase electric power cable, where the cable connects an inverter and a three-phase electric traction machine. Heat generated by Joule effect in the cable is estimated (36) from the measured current intensity and time elapsed from closing of a first or second group of controlled switches, when the switches are closed. A request is transmitted (40) to a hybrid or electric traction chain of a car for stopping the car, when the heat of the cable attains (38) a predetermined threshold.
