Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an English cane equipped with support means intended to facilitate the holding of said rod against a support when it is not used. The field of the invention is that of the English canes 5 intended for the disabled and / or injured. In a conventional manner, an English cane comprises an adjustable telescopic arm equipped with a pad at one of its ends, generally of circular bearing surface, and gripping means comprising a handle and a brachial support, to the other end of said telescopic arm. Very often, the canes English, because of their great length and their shifted center of gravity are not stable when they are simply put against a wall. Indeed, in this position, the slightest shock against these rods makes them fall to the ground. The user must then pick up his cane which is very painful or even impossible because of his handicap. For this purpose, it has been proposed various devices to facilitate the maintenance of English canes against a vertical support. It is known from the state of the art a stabilization system making it possible to hold English rods against a wall, for example from document DE 10 2009 017 291. There are thus a certain number of English canes comprising stabilizing means already known and can be mounted on both the gripping means on the telescopic arm. For example, one common technique for holding an English cane upright against a wall is to provide two rubber pins on the back of the brachial support on the back of the hug. It is then possible to hold the cane upright against a wall, resting on the ground by means of its circular pad and supported on the wall by means of the two rubber pins. This technique has the disadvantage of requiring an additional manufacturing step for setting up the pins. Although this modification is not difficult to achieve, it increases the manufacturing time of the cane and thus increases its cost. A further disadvantage of known techniques is that the user must routinely place the cane when he wishes to grab an object or perform any action. The invention aims to overcome the various disadvantages mentioned above. More specifically, an object of the invention is to provide an English cane comprising effective support means so as to avoid any possible fall. Another object of the invention is to provide English cane support means which are simple to implement. It is another object of the invention to provide English cane support means which is reliable and effective. These objectives, as well as others which will appear more clearly later, are achieved according to the invention with the aid of an English cane for the disabled and / or injured including an adjustable telescopic arm equipped with a skid. one of its ends, and 20 gripping means comprising a brachial support provided with a kiss and a handle at the other end of said telescopic arm, said English cane having support means located at said gripping means said support means being arranged to allow the English cane to be held in an equilibrium position when said English cane is placed against a vertical support, the pad being supported on the ground and the support means in support on said support. According to the invention, said pad has a curved ground contact surface, disposed in the direction of travel so as to allow the pad to roll on the ground when walking, said pad being arranged with respect to said means for in such a way as to ensure a linear contact on the ground when said English cane is in said equilibrium position.
Preferably, said support means comprise a first projecting support intended to rest against said support, which is a vertical support disposed at said brachial support. According to an advantageous aspect of the invention, the English cane comprises a second support intended to rest against a horizontal support when the English cane is placed against said horizontal support, the pad being in support on the ground and the bearing resting on the horizontal support. According to one aspect of the invention, the English cane comprises a flat support under the handle, intended to rest against a horizontal support.
According to a particularly simple approach, said gripping means comprise a hook disposed at said handle, in the extension of the handle, on the back of the brachial support. This gives a hooking system particularly simple to implement.
This approach makes it possible to maintain the English cane in a reliable and efficient balance. According to an advantageous aspect of the invention, said handle comprises a housing at its free end, adapted to cooperate with a projecting horizontal support.
Advantageously, the stabilizing means are formed in the same room as said handle and said brachial support thus reducing the manufacturing cost of the English cane. According to a particular aspect of the invention, a strap is disposed close to said handle so as to easily attach said English cane to a support. According to the invention, said pad is a separate element attached to the end of said arm, which has a bearing surface on the ground dimension much greater than the section of said telescopic arm, the width of said pad being greater than the section of said telescopic arm so as to provide a better stability for example by a factor greater than 2. Advantageously, the telescopic arm is of rectangular section, including square. Other features and advantages of the invention will appear more clearly on reading the following description of a particular embodiment of the invention, given as a simple illustrative and nonlimiting example, and the appended drawings, among which: : - Figure 1 is a rear view of the upper part of the English cane; - Figure 2 is a front view of the upper part of the English cane; - Figure 3 illustrates the lower part of the English cane. As previously mentioned, the general principle of the invention is therefore based on the implementation of an English cane 1 equipped with support means 20 for placing against a support. This English cane 1 intended for disabled and / or injured includes an adjustable telescopic arm equipped with a shoe 9 at one end 50 and gripping means comprising a brachial support 2 provided with a kiss 3 and a handle 4 to the other end 51. Support means 20 are arranged at the level of the gripping means 20 and are intended to rest against a vertical support and allow to keep the cane upright. In addition, the pad 9 disposed at the end 51 of the telescopic arm 5 has a contact surface on the ground, curved, convex and arranged in the direction of travel, that is to say that it is disposed of 25 to allow the rolling of the pad 9 on the ground when walking. The support means 20 and the pad 9 are arranged to maintain the rod 1 when placed in a position of equilibrium against a vertical support, the pad 9 being supported on the ground and the means support 20 bearing on the vertical support. This arrangement makes it possible in particular to ensure an equilibrium maintenance effective when the English cane 1 is placed against a vertical support Advantageously, according to the invention, said pad 9 is arranged relative to said support means 20 so as to ensure a linear contact on the ground when said English cane 1 is in said equilibrium position. This linear contact on the ground makes it possible to increase the stability of the equilibrium position. Advantageously this linear contact is authorized according to different inclinations of the English cane 1 relative to the ground thanks to the curved conformation of the contact surface of said pad 9 Subsequently, consider an English cane 1 equipped with stabilization means according to the invention . Figure 1 is a rear quarter view of a particular embodiment of the invention for which the English cane 1 is equipped with support means for resting against a support.
The gripping means at the upper part of the English cane 1, illustrated in FIG. 1, comprise a one-piece element comprising an inclined brachial support 2 serving to position the forearm and a hug 3 designed to maintain the forearm of the forearm. the user. This one-piece element also comprises a handle 4 disposed perpendicular to the telescopic arm 5. The handle 4 may have a stop 6 at its end to prevent the hand from sliding and a housing 10 adapted to cooperate with a door handle, for example , to position the cane parallel to the door. The handle 4 may also have a flat part 11 (on its lower part) so that the cane can be placed on a horizontal support such as a table. The integral member may be made of a plastic material such as polypropylene, the handle 4 may be ergonomic and have a second flexible absorbent and / or non-slip elastomer material to provide better comfort. It is also conceivable that this one-piece element is made of a composite material such as fiberglass or carbon fiber to lighten the English cane. According to another particular embodiment, the embrace 3 can be articulated and the brachial support 2, adjustable to adapt to the morphology of the user. The gripping means can be coupled / fixed to the telescopic arm 5 adjustable in height which comprises a first end 50 and a second end 51. For this purpose, the gripping means, in particular said monobloc element, comprise a housing 7 disposed in the extension. brachial support 2 under the handle 4 and intended to cooperate by interlocking with the first end 50 of the telescopic arm 5. The telescopic arm 5, as shown in Figure 3, is adjustable in height to adapt to the morphology of the user. Thus, the telescopic arm 5 comprises two parts interconnected so as to slide one into the other. The first part, said upper part 52 of the arm, has a section greater than that of the second part, said lower part 53, so that the lower portion 53, of smaller section, can slide. The telescopic arm 5 may be of parallelepipedal section, preferably square, or circular and made of a metallic material such as steel, aluminum or titanium. The use of composite materials is also conceivable in order to reduce the weight of the cane. Advantageously, the use of a square section tube for the telescopic arm contributes to the good stability of the cane when it is placed against a table edge, for example. The upper 52 and lower 53 portions of the telescopic arm 5 can be locked by means of a locking device 54 once the desired height is reached. Such a locking device 54 may be, for example, a ring disposed at the junction of the upper portion 52 and lower 53 of the telescopic arm 5 and comprising a pin for cooperating with holes, not shown in the figures, equidistant and aligned along a vertical axis on the lower part 53 of the telescopic arm 5. Of course, any other locking device that can be envisaged by those skilled in the art can be implemented.
As can be seen in FIG. 1, the support means 20, in particular made of plastic material, such as polypropylene, can be arranged projecting on the back of the brachial support 2 at the bead 3 so as to provide a support 20a when the rod 1 is placed against a vertical support. These support means 20 also comprise a lower part, at least the edges of which form a support 20b when the cane 1 is placed against a horizontal support, thus allowing the cane to be placed on a table top or a table for example. According to another embodiment not illustrated, the support means 20 can be constituted simply by the back of the embrace 3.
These support means may be molded at the same time as the brachial support 2 to form part of the one-piece element or be added to the one-piece element. Another support means, in particular made of hook-shaped plastics material 21 and serving as a hooking means on any support, such as a chair backrest or a railing, can be arranged in the extension of the handle 4, the same side as the support 20. In the same way, this element can be molded together with the handle to be part of the monobloc element or be added to the monobloc element. The English cane 1 can also be provided with a strap 8, shown in FIG. 2, arranged slightly behind the handle 4 and fixed by means of fixing means 55, such as a screw / nut system, for example, to be able to hang the English cane 1 to a support such as a coat rack, or to allow the user to keep the English cane 1 wrist when he wants to grab an object such as a door handle for example. As shown in Figure 3, the English rod 1 is provided with a pad 9 placed at the end 51 of the lower portion 53 of the telescopic arm 5 to provide a stable and secure contact surface on the ground. According to the invention, the pad is arranged in the direction of travel, that is to say in the direction indicated by the handle. For the sake of clarity and better understanding, only one embodiment comprising a shoe 9 of substantially semi-elliptical section according to a vertical sectional plane defined by a first vertical axis passing through the telescopic arm, and a second horizontal axis passing through the handle and secant to the first axis will be described here. Of course, according to other embodiments, the pad 9 may adopt other forms than that described below. Thus, the pad may have a width and a length greater or less. The thickness of the pad can also be greater to provide a better longevity.
A variable width or not along its length can also be considered. According to a particular embodiment of the invention, the shoe 9 can therefore adopt a section as described above, its two ends 90 and 91 then being bent on either side, in the longitudinal direction, to ensure a better stability when a user moves with the cane 1. According to a simplified approach, this pad can be compared to a foot when the user moves with the rod 1. Indeed, the particular shape of the pad 9 of this mode particular embodiment allows the user to achieve a more natural movement when using the English canes 1. For example, when the user places the canes English forward in order to support and make a displacement, those they form an angle with the ground. The curved contact surface of the pad 9 then allows the shoe 9 to pivot relative to the ground in a rolling movement of said pad on the ground. Moreover, this particular shape of the pad makes it possible to provide support for rehabilitation during the convalescence period.
Unlike a conventional shoe having a flat surface that does not provide a contact surface when the rod is tilted, the pad 9 according to the invention ensures constant contact with the ground, which provides a better stability and reliability when the user is moves.
Advantageously, the pad 9 may have a width substantially greater than that of the telescopic arm 5 thus making it possible to have a greater surface contact with the ground and ensuring better stability when the English cane 1 is placed against a vertical support in said equilibrium position of the English cane.
In addition, the ends 90 and 91 of the shoe 9 can be bent on either side in the direction of the length of the pad 9 so as to ensure better stability of the English cane 1 even when it is inclined against a vertical support. Advantageously, the pad 9 according to the invention can cooperate with the support 20a disposed on the back of the brachial support 2 of the English cane 1 when it is placed against a vertical support. Thus, when the user deposits the rod 1 against a wall, the support 20a provides a plane contact with the wall and keeps the cane in balance. The pad 9 in contact with the ground reinforces the stability of the rod 1 by its particular shape. Indeed, the pad 9 ensures a better stability of the English cane through the linear contact of the pad 9 over its width, the latter being substantially greater than the width of the telescopic arm 5. The pad 9 also ensures a better stability 25 thanks to its curved contact surface, stability can then be ensured even when the rod 1 is inclined against a vertical support. Naturally, other embodiments could have been envisaged by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention defined by the claims below.
