Abstract

The device has a calculation unit (MC1) arranged to determine, for each of cable sections (T11-T13) of a line (L1), a theoretical minimum mass and a voltage drop less than or equal to a preset maximum voltage drop. The calculation unit determines a theoretical mass for an upper section and a lower section from a set of available predefined sections. Another calculating unit (MC2) determines an optimal length for each of the sections from the determined theoretical mass, so that the line has a minimum optimum mass and a voltage drop less than or equal to the preset maximum voltage drop. An independent claim is also included for a method for calculation of length of sections of electric cables.
