Abstract
This device comprises a first container (10) to provide first fumes qualified lukewarm. It is proposed to add warming containers (15, 16, ...) that provide a stratification effect at the top (50) of the room (3) in which a fire-fighting exercise is carried out. Description
The present invention relates to a device for providing fumes intended in particular for fire-fighting exercises, a device comprising a first container for providing first fumes. This type of device that provides controlled smoke, finds important applications for the training of firefighters to fight fires occurring in tunnels, including. It is therefore useful to generate fumes of the kind that can be generated in a tunnel during an accident. However, the amount of heat generated by this type of device is very limited and can reduce almost to nothing the dangers inherent in a real fire.
This device also makes it possible to evaluate the smoke extraction during which a controlled smoke is generated. The smoke extraction system is then started and its efficiency is evaluated. It is still possible to perform evacuation and rescue drills in which controlled smoke is generated. The capacity of the occupants to evacuate under conditions close to reality (smoke flow and smoke opacity) can be evaluated. The capacity of the emergency services to intervene under the same conditions can also be evaluated. Such a device is described in the patent application filed in France on July 29, 2009 under the number 0955302.
This device brings complete satisfaction. It turns out that the phenomenon of smoke stratification in a tunnel can be further improved. Indeed, in real fires, it is found that the fumes are heated by the fire and stagnate at the top of the room where the fire started. It is then possible to accentuate this property to smoke so that it remains at the top of the room.
To improve the stratification of fumes in a room, a device of the type mentioned in the preamble is remarkable in that it further comprises at least one heating container placed near said first container.
The following description accompanied by the accompanying drawings, all given by way of non-limiting example, will make it clear how the invention can be realized. In the drawings: FIG. 1 shows a device according to the invention.
. In Figure 1, the reference 1 shows the device according to the invention. It is placed in a room 5. It consists of a first container 10 intended to provide first smoke, placed on the floor 11. This container is of the type described in the patent application No. 0955302 of July 29, 2009 already mentioned . This container contains a mixture of potassium nitrate, potato flakes and starch based starches. It then occurs, when it is ignited, the first smoke qualified lukewarm. To improve the stratification of fumes as it occurs during actual fires, the invention proposes to heat these fumes produced. For this purpose, one or more heating containers 15, 16, 17 and 18 are placed close to this container 11. These heating containers contain an easily flammable fuel of the heptane, alcohol, gasoline, wood, etc. type. It is even possible to use gas burners. In other words, the fuel can be a liquid, solid, gaseous fuel and be based on heptane, as already mentioned. It should be noted that each first container (10) is assigned at least two warming containers (15, 16, ...). Thus in a heated atmosphere, the fumes generated at the first container are also heated and have an upward movement that directs them to the top 50 of the local 3 in a similar way to real fires. Large surface heating containers can also be used to minimize their number. The presence of two kinds of container gives great flexibility in different wrestling exercises. For some cases, the presence of warming containers is not necessary and in others if. .
