Abstract
Description
2964560 DESCRIPTION 2964560 DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a "respiratory stimulator" device, in particular for a patient during the post-operative awakening phase in the recovery room within the operating theater.
2 2964560 It can be used also, for example: - in operated patients, in deep sedation with morphine use, which causes respiratory depression, although the patient is under spontaneous ventilation, - in neurosurgery for: vigilant craniotomy, implant stimulation electrodes deep in parkinson's diseases and atypical movement syndromes, - in outpatient surgery, diagnostic interventions, and interventional radiology, - as respiratory distress surveillance in outpatient resuscitation for all rescue teams, Samu, firefighters, in particular for land transport or helicopter. This device can prove its utility also in detoxification centers for drug addicts suffering from respiratory depression. In all these cases, people have respiratory depressions, and it is necessary to stimulate their breathing, which is usually done by an auditory intervention of an assistant who screams for example "breathe" near their ear. This therefore requires human intervention of the nursing staff, which is not always available, and therefore unsatisfactory in terms of safety. The device according to the invention makes it possible to effectively remedy this disadvantage. The basic device has already been the subject of a prior patent "Respiratory Hearing Stimulator" of the same inventor (patent no. FR2776930 of April 3, 1998) and had made it possible to remedy these disadvantages by an apparatus simplified autonomous, with auditory stimulation, adjustable in intensity and frequency, but without connection to a respiratory control system. This apparatus simply made it possible to emit a "breathe" auditory message in the patient's ear, at regular intervals (5 to 12 times per minute), to stimulate his spontaneous breathing if it were insufficient. This patent had received a gold medal at the Lépine Competition in 2000, and the device has been successfully tested in hospitals. This patent shows significant improvements over the initial patent in that: 1 ° / it proposes a connection (integrated or not) with a monitoring system of the respiratory rate of the patient (capnometry or other type) which triggers automatically the operation of the respiratory stimulator according to the observed level of dangerous decrease in respiratory rate. This connection may be an electronic interface, but this stimulator may also be integrated, as an electronic module, into the apparatus for monitoring the patient's breathing. Diagram 3 explains the loopback: the system (type capnometer or others) measures the respiratory rate of the patient. If this falls below a predetermined value, the system alarm (type capnometer or others) is triggered and sends a signal to the Stimulator which automatically sends for example the auditory command "breathe" to the patient. 2 ° / the present new patent also relates to the fact that the stimulation of the patient can also be obtained, together or separately, by sensory other than auditory, for example percutaneously, vibratory, electro-stimulation, or any other way, 50 triggered by the respiratory stimulator. 2 2964560
Ce dernier comporte, principalement un système électronique générateur d'impulsions minutées, avec 20 création de signaux électriques de commande (pour vibreur ou électrodes) et éventuellement un système de synthèse de voix permettant d'émettre une injonction adaptée pour "respirez", et (ou) un détecteur d'alarme de capnomètre (ou autre appareil de détection d'anomalie respiratoire) couplé par exemple par une embase modular PLUG (11).3 ° / the Stimulator, in addition to technological improvements (digital buttons, etc ...) which do not form the basis of the patent, may include "loudspeaker" indicator or level tester that can verify the proper functioning of the system . 4 ° / although not constituting a basis of the patent, another improvement of the Stimulator compared to the original patent, relates to the replacement of the battery supply, by a mains power supply or rechargeable battery with regulation and charge indicator incorporated into the device. The invention will be better understood and other advantages thereof will emerge more clearly in the light of the following description of a ~ o respiratory stimulation device according to its principle, given only by way of non-limiting example. and with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: - Figure 1 is a schematic view illustrating the front face (or control panel) of a respiratory stimulator according to the invention; and FIG. 2 is a view of the rear face (or ancillary connections) illustrating the power supplies of a respiratory stimulator of FIG. 1. The respiratory stimulator shown in FIG. designated as a whole by reference (1). The latter comprises, principally an electronic system generating timed pulses, with the creation of electrical control signals (for vibrators or electrodes) and possibly a voice synthesis system making it possible to emit an injunction adapted to "breathe", and or) a capnometer alarm detector (or other respiratory anomaly detection device) coupled for example by a modular PLUG base (11).
This housing is connected to the patient by one or more sensitive devices, for example auditory, by an earphone placed in his ear (8a), the cable (or the Wi-Fi connection) being connected to the housing, for example with a typical socket mini-jack (7a). In addition the volume controls (2) and frequencies (3) are provided by buttons or other digital devices to adjust and view the desired 30 parameters. The frequencies can be chosen from among all the physiological values (4). In case of auditory stimulation, the message, which will be prerecorded in principle, can be customized depending on the language used. According to a preferred embodiment: The respiratory stimulator, for a patient who may have respiratory difficulties following, for example, a surgical procedure, comprises: a set (1) generating pulses, for example auditory, with in this case optionally a speech synthesis system for issuing an injunction adapted to "breathe", 40 - connected to the patient by one or more sensitive devices, for example atrial earpiece type (8a) or vibrator (8b) or electro-cutaneous stimulator (8c) ) or other, - and with a suitable socket (11) for connecting it to a device for controlling the respiratory rate, to which it can be optionally enslaved; 45 - It also comprises devices for adjusting the desired respiratory rate (3), and the level of the pulses, for example sound volume (2a) or power of the electro-cutaneous stimulations (2b) or other, possibly with an indicator (5) or speaker (6) control; Finally, it comprises a mains power supply, or an independent power supply, consisting of either 5o battery compartment (12) or a battery with its connector (9) and with built-in charge controller and charger socket (10).
