I COMPOSITION ELASTOMERE CELLULAIRE POUR INSERT DE SOUTIEN D'UN BANDAGE DE ROUE, INSERT CONSTITUE DE CETTE COMPOSITION ET ENSEMBLE MONTE L'INCORPORANT. CELLULAR ELASTOMER COMPOSITION FOR INSERT FOR SUPPORTING WHEEL BANDING, INSERT COMPRISING SUCH COMPOSITION AND ASSEMBLY ASSEMBLING THE SAME.
The present invention relates to a closed cell cellular elastomeric insert composition for supporting a tire of a vehicle wheel, an insert comprising the composition and a mounted assembly incorporating the insert. The invention applies to an assembly mounted pneumatically or not (i.e. with or without inflation pressure, respectively) i0 especially for two-wheeled vehicle, each of which is permanently supported by this two insert. In known manner, the assemblies mounted for bicycles may incorporate means for pressurizing their internal space, either via air chambers provided between the tire and the wheel rim (such a mounted assembly is then called " tubetype ") or without a tube through the tight fitting of the tire against the rim flanges (" tubeless "assembled assembly). A disadvantage of these pressurized assemblies lies not only in the regular inflation they require to overcome the progressive leakage of the inflation gas, but also in the fact that they can be punctured, for example by puncture or vandalism. usually causes the immobilization of the vehicle for its repair. It is also known to use non-pneumatic tires which form a tread for the assembled assembly and which are supported without inflation gas by a compact or cellular self-supporting elastomer insert filling the space between the tire and the rim. . For example, reference can be made to WO-A1-2007 / 015279 for the description of such a non-pneumatic mounted assembly for two-wheeled vehicles, in which the insert consists of a mixture of thermoplastic elastomers based on a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and a thermoplastic styrene elastomer (TPS) such as an SEBS, which is intended to reduce the hardness of the TPU and the manufacturing cost of the insert.
A major disadvantage of these existing mounted assemblies with TPU-based support inserts and TPS is their relatively low endurance and relatively high rolling resistance. An object of the present invention is to provide a closed cell cellular elastomer composition for an insert intended to support a pneumatic tire or not of a vehicle wheel which makes it possible to remedy these disadvantages, and this object is achieved in that the Applicant has surprisingly discovered that a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) specifically combined with at least one other copolyamide-type thermoplastic elastomer (COPA) and / or copolyester (COPE) makes it possible to obtain such a thermoplastic elastomer-type composition which notably has significantly improved endurance and rolling resistance markedly reduced over time in comparison with the same performance relative to known cellular compositions based on the combination of the same TPU and a TPS instead of COPA or COPE, while presenting a flexibility and therefore a level of comfort of the same order as that of these compositions of known inserts. In other words, an insert composition according to the invention based on at least one thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is characterized in that it further comprises at least one other thermoplastic elastomer chosen from the group consisting of copolyamides (COPA), copolyesters (COPE) and mixtures thereof. It will be noted that the unexpected synergistic effect between TPU on the one hand and COPA or COPE on the other hand gives the compositions of the invention significantly improved dynamic performance for the corresponding cellular inserts, in particular with rolling resistance. minimized and maximized endurance during the duration of use of the insert.
The alloy of thermoplastic materials which characterizes the compositions according to the invention has the advantage of conferring a relatively reduced weight on the corresponding support inserts (because of the low average density of the thermoplastic elastomers used), of being able to be easily expanded to obtain closed cells and also minimize the creep of these compositions once transformed. It will also be noted that this thermoplastic alloy has the advantage of making the inserts according to the invention fully recyclable and easily transformable for their implementation (no crosslinking of the TPU or COPA or COPE is required, unlike the usual rubbers, for example two-component liquid polyurethanes which must be crosslinked in expensive cross-linking furnaces Zo which consume energy). It will furthermore be noted that a composition according to the invention may comprise, in addition to the abovementioned TPU + alloy (COPA or COPE) at least one other thermoplastic polymer such as, for example, a thermoplastic elastomer of the TPS family (eg an SEBS). or a polyolefin (eg low density polyethylene). Preferably, said composition comprises said at least one thermoplastic polyurethane in a mass fraction of between 60 and 98%, and said at least one copolyamide or copolyester in a mass fraction of between 2 and 40%. Also preferably, said at least one thermoplastic polyurethane has a Shore A hardness of between 60 and 85 (this TPU may for example be called "Desmopan" or "Elastogran"), and said at least one copolyamide or copolyester has a Shore A hardness between 60 and 90. According to a first embodiment of the invention, said composition comprises said at least one copolyamide, which is a polyether amide block (PEBA, for example of the name "Pebax" or "Vestamid" ), in an amount of between 5 and 50 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of said thermoplastic polyurethane. According to a second embodiment of the invention, said composition comprises said at least one copolyester (for example of the name "Arnitel", "Hytrel" or "Keyflex") in an amount of between 10 and 30 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of said thermoplastic polyurethane. According to another feature of the invention common to these two examples, said composition may further comprise at least one polymeric compatibilizing agent between said at least one thermoplastic polyurethane and said at least one copolyamide or copolyester, this agent being present in a mass fraction. between 0.1 and 5% and having carbon-carbon double bonds. This compatibilizing agent may, for example, enable Zo to further improve certain mechanical properties of the insert, such as, for example, creep resistance. Advantageously, said at least one compatibilizing agent may be a copolymer selected from the group consisting of block terpolymers of formula SBM, block terpolymers of formula MAM, polyolefins grafted with maleic anhydride and random terpolymers derived from ethylene, an acrylate and acrylic acid, wherein S, B, M and A respectively denote polymer blocks predominantly derived from a vinylaromatic monomer such as styrene S, a conjugated diene monomer such as butadiene B, methyl methacrylate M, and an alkyl acrylate or methacrylate A such as butyl acrylate. According to a first embodiment of the invention common to these two examples and to the optional use of this compatibilizing agent, said composition is devoid of any crosslinking system. According to a second embodiment of the invention which is also common to these examples and to the use of the compatibilizing agent, said composition comprises, in a mass fraction of between 0.01 and 5%, a crosslinking system chosen from the group consisting of systems comprising an organic peroxide (preferential), a phenolic resin, a metal oxide and those comprising a diamine, only said at least one compatibilizing agent then being crosslinked in the composition. This crosslinking may make it possible to further improve the mechanical properties (e.g., creep resistance) of the resulting insert.
The expansion of an insert according to the invention for obtaining closed cells can be carried out by incorporating at least one blowing agent (eg azodicarbonamide) into the thermoplastic alloy of the composition of the invention, or else by injecting a suitable gas (eg nitrogen or carbon dioxide) into the extruder used to obtain this rod. It will be noted that the cellular structure thus obtained for the insert makes it possible to confer on it a relatively reduced stiffness and mass in comparison with those obtained by compact elastomeric materials. Said composition may optionally contain, in addition to the aforementioned thermoplastic alloy, all or part of the additives normally used in thermoplastic elastomer mixtures, for example plasticizers (for example of the ester type, useful for reducing the modules if necessary) and reinforcing fillers. organic (eg carbon blacks) or inorganic (eg chalk or kaolin) and / or fibers (eg reinforcing textile fibers for example based on a polyamide). These loads can indeed make it possible to improve, on the one hand, the lift (or resistance to the running load) of the insert and, on the other hand, its resistance to breaking. According to another characteristic of the invention, said composition may have an average density of between 400 kg / m 3 and 800 kg / m 3 and preferably between 500 and 700 kg / m 3, which is particularly well suited for assembled assemblies of bicycles. A support insert according to the invention for pneumatic or non-pneumatic tire of a vehicle wheel, the insert consisting of a closed-cell cellular elastomeric composition, has its composition which is as defined above. According to another characteristic of the invention, this insert can be extruded in the form of a solid rod or perforated along its length and of substantially circular cross section.
2963353 s Exemples de réalisation d'inserts selon la fiqure 1 et conformément à ce procédé, : Advantageously, in the case of the support of a non-pneumatic tire, this insert may consist of a fully self-supporting rod having a plurality of axial ribs which are regularly spaced around its circumference and which each preferably have a cross-section in the form of isosceles trapezium with rounded tops. It should be noted that these peripheral ribs formed on the insert make it possible to improve the flexibility of this insert and thus the comfort in running for the user of the vehicle, such as a bicycle. Alternatively, in the case of the support of a pneumatic tire, this insert may consist of a ring comprising along its length at least one orifice which is adapted to define an air chamber inflated by a valve fitted to said wheel and whose The edge is formed by an airtight film preferably based on a coextruded thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV), the remainder of said ring being made of said composition. An assembly mounted pneumatically or not for a wheeled vehicle according to the invention, in particular for a bicycle, comprises a wheel rim, a tire or not comprising a tread and two heels mounted against two edges of the rim, and an insert mounted between this rim and this bandage which is as defined above. An assembly mounted according to the invention has in particular the following advantages, in addition to those mentioned above: an effective protection against the risks of puncture of the bandage by perforation, impact-pinching when rolling or vandalism, comfort qualities, road holding and life-time satisfactory for the user, and - a very simple mounting of the insert inside the bandage, without special tools other than the "tire changer" usual. Other features, advantages and details of the present invention will emerge on reading the following description of several embodiments of the invention, given by way of illustration and not limitation, said description being made with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is a schematic front view of an extrusion die that can be used to obtain a solid insert according to the invention for a non-pneumatic tire, and FIG. 2 is a diagrammatic cross-sectional view of FIG. an insert according to the invention according to a variant of Figure 1, hollow structure forming an air chamber for the support of a tire. The insert 1 obtained by the extrusion die 10 of Figure 1 is in particular intended to be mounted between a wheel and a two-wheeled vehicle tire, such. a bicycle, and it is formed of a solid rod having in cross section a form of perimeter disc defining longitudinal ribs 2 connected in pairs by grooves 3 for the rod obtained (with outer and outer diameters respectively 28 mm and 24 mm in this embodiment with 18 ribs). These ribs 2 each have in this example an isosceles trapezoid cross section with rounded tops, and they improve the flexibility and thus the level of comfort in rolling. This insert 1 was obtained essentially in two steps: a first step of thermomechanical working of the composition based on an alloy of thermoplastic elastomers TPU + COPE 20 or TPU + COPA with the addition of granules of blowing agent ( eg azodicarbonamide) to expand the composition and, in the case of the addition of a compatibilizing agent, with the optional crosslinking of the latter by the incorporation of a crosslinking system to the composition, and - a second shaping step by extrusion carried out in a conventional extrusion line for thermoplastic materials (ie including extrusion, cooling and cutting stations). Finally insert the extruded insert 1 rod-shaped inside the non-pneumatic tire to be mounted on the wheel. This insert 1 is thus self-supporting, in that it is sufficient to ensure the rolling load of the tire without the use of inflation gas of the cavity defined by the latter around the wheel. Examples of embodiments of inserts according to FIG. 1 and according to this method:
12 : TPU « Desmopan 481 » 100 parties PEBA « Pebax 2533 » 45 parties. 13 : TPU « Desmopan 481 » 100 parties PEBA « Pebax 2533 » 45 parties Plastifiant « Alcanplast 188 » 20 parties. 14 : TPU « Desmopan 481 » 100 parties COPE « Arnitel PM460 » 20 parties. 15 : TPU « Desmopan 481 » 100 parties T : PEBA « Pebax 2533 » 25 parties Agent compatibilisant "SBM GV100" 2 parties peroxyde « Luperox » (réticulation) 0,1 partie. 25 Table 1 below presents the results obtained after running tests of mounted bicycle assemblies incorporating these six inserts 1, in base 100 (ie with reference values standardized at 100 for the insert consisting of the reference composition T). Table 1: f 11 12 13 14 15 T Endurance 500 450 350 350 500 100 Resistance to 65 60 85 70 65 100 Rolling Flexibility 125 120 100 125 130 100 These rolling tests demonstrate the advantageous effect obtained by the combination of a TPU and a COPA or COPE in a non-pneumatic tire support insert 1 consisting of a composition 11 to 15 according to the invention, in comparison with the control insert consisting of the TPU and SEBS-based composition T since the flexibility of the inserts 11 to 15 and thus the comfort in running (see discrepancies between 0 and 30% only with respect to the insert T) have been obtained without significantly penalizing: - in terms of endurance with respect to the insert T, a number of kilometers traveled multiplied by at least 3.5 (more than 5000 km in absolute) or even fivefold for the inserts II and 15 comprising the same compatibilizer "SBM" respectively uncrosslinked and cross-linked, and - in terms of rolling resistance compared with the T insert, the values diminished over the duration of at least 15% or even 40%. It may be noted in particular that the insert 13 consisting of a TPU + PEBA + plasticizer mixture exhibits an unchanged flexibility with respect to the TPU + SEBS control, with an endurance multiplied by 3.5 and a rolling resistance reduced by 15%. This extruded insert 1 according to FIG. 2 is formed of a hollow rod 4 which consists of a composition according to the invention such as those 11 to 15 mentioned above in relation to the inserts. 1, and which comprises along its length a central orifice 5 for defining an air chamber inflated by a valve 5 fitted to the wheel of a two-wheeled vehicle, such as a bicycle. This cellular composition defining the insert 1 'therefore forms a relatively thick protective air chamber which is very difficult to break, and it is advantageously separated from this orifice 5 to be swollen by an impermeable film 6 which borders this orifice 5 (defining therefore the zone of material ~ o radially the innermost of the insert 1 '). This film 6 is preferably based on a thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) coextruded with the rest of the rod 4. In the example of FIG. 2, the insert 1 'has, in cross-section, an elliptical crown shape or circular circular concentrically surrounding the orifice 5. Note however that an insert 1 'according to this embodiment 15 could comprise a different shape of the orifice, or several orifices each to be inflated by the wheel valve. By way of non-limiting example, a thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) can be used for forming the impermeable film 6, for example based on a mixture of butyl rubber (IIR) and polypropylene (PP), and for the remainder 4 of the insert 1 ', the aforementioned thermoplastic alloy TPU + PEBA. The air chamber thus formed by the insert 1 'contributes to a stiffness equivalent to a pressure of 2 to 4 bars, supplemented by an inflation pressure of the orifice 5 of the order of 1 to 3 bars. 25
