Abstract

The tool (1) has two permanent magnets that are brought into contact with corresponding metal parts e.g. a punch holder (7) and punch (8), arranged relative to one another. An elastic connection unit, preferably a helical tension spring (4) that is elastically deformed according to positioning of the metal parts, provides a flexible temporary mechanical link between them. The magnets are preferably fixed on supports (3) by welding, and the elastic connection unit is fixed on the supports. An independent claim is also included for a method for maintaining two metal parts in a position.
