Description
The invention relates to the field of turbomachines. Conventionally a turbomachine comprises at least one shaft connected to at least one turbine wheel (this turbine can be free or bonded), this shaft being disposed horizontally, that is to say with its axis oriented in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of gravity. To ensure proper maintenance of the tree and support its weight, several bearings, usually two, are distributed along this tree. Thus, in a turbomachine comprising successively, from upstream to downstream, a compressor, a combustion chamber and a turbine, a bearing is disposed upstream of the compressor and a bearing is disposed downstream of the combustion chamber. This has several disadvantages. A first disadvantage is that the trees are often long and heavy, and despite the punctual maintenance carried out by each landing, it resides cantilevers along which the tree can deform because of its weight and that of the or turbine wheels that support it. This static deformation modifies the straightness of the shaft, and creates unbalance when the turbomachine is running and the shaft turns on itself about its axis.
A second disadvantage is related to the presence of several bearings that weigh down the turbomachine and affect its performance. Finally, a third disadvantage is that the bearing disposed downstream of the combustion chamber is in a particularly hot zone of the turbomachine and undergoes high thermal stresses. To ensure the proper functioning of the latter bearing, and avoid the risk of coking, it is necessary to provide a cooling system, typically by cooling oil circuit. This cooling system is complex to install and maintain, which increases the costs of manufacture and maintenance of the turbomachine, and further increases it.
The invention aims to substantially overcome at least one of the disadvantages mentioned above. This object is achieved by means of a turbomachine comprising at least one shaft carrying at least one turbine wheel, in which the shaft is oriented substantially vertically in the normal use situations of the turbomachine, the shaft being maintained by a single bearing .
It will be noted that said turbine wheel may belong to both a linked turbine and a free turbine of the turbomachine. It is recalled that a linked turbine is a turbine mechanically linked to a compressor of the turbomachine while a free turbine is a turbine mechanically independent of the compressor. In this paper, the vertical direction is the direction of gravity. Thus, "vertically oriented" means "oriented in the direction of gravity". The adverb "substantially" is used to indicate that the direction of the tree can form a small angle with the vertical direction. By "normal use situations of the turbomachine" is meant to designate the situations where the turbomachine is mounted on a vehicle, in particular on an aircraft (the turbomachine is then, for example, a turbine engine or a turbojet engine), this vehicle moving horizontally (On land, on water or in the air) or when the turbine engine is mounted on an industrial production site (the turbomachine is then, for example, a gas turbine land). The turbomachine may be stationary or in operation. Thus, in particular, the transport situations before assembly, or repair of the turbomachine are not "normal use situations". It is understood that by positioning the shaft in the vertical direction, it no longer has cantilever capable of inducing static deformations that can change its straightness, due to its weight and that of the turbine wheel. Unlike turbomachines of the prior art, the shaft according to the invention is therefore not subjected to radial static forces (i.e. efforts oriented in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the shaft and intersecting this axis). Of course, since the shaft is also not or hardly subjected to axial forces (ie forces oriented in the axial direction of the shaft), there is no risk that the tree will flare and see its modified straightness. . Indeed, the weight of the shaft and the turbine wheel represents a negligible force for the shaft in its axial direction. Thus, the straightness of the tree is assured. On the other hand, since the shaft is vertically disposed, it is no longer necessary to maintain the shaft, as in the prior art, with several bearings distributed along its length to support its weight. Indeed, by maintaining it in one place by a single bearing the tree is properly maintained. Of course, this single bearing must be able to support in the axial direction the weight of the assembly consisting of the shaft and the turbine wheel or wheels.
In addition, in normal use situations, when the turbomachine is operating, the shaft is stabilized around its original axial position (i.e. its axial position at rest) by gyroscopic effect. Remember that the gyroscopic effect is the tendency of any body, in rapid rotation about an axis, to oppose any effort to change the direction of its axis of rotation. Thus, the axial position of the shaft remains the same within the turbomachine whatever the normal use of the turbomachine, on the one hand thanks to the bearing (which maintains the shaft in its original position at within the turbomachine and supports its weight when the turbomachine is stopped) and secondly thanks to the gyroscopic effect (which stabilizes the shaft around its original position within the turbomachine when the turbomachine is running ). Furthermore, the turbine engine having a single bearing, a weight gain is achieved compared to the turbomachines of the prior art which have several bearings. Thus, the turbomachine according to the invention is lighter and therefore has an improved efficiency compared to the turbomachines of the prior art. This single bearing also makes it possible to save space within the turbomachine. Indeed, the single bearing of the turbomachine according to the invention occupies less space than the several bearings of the turbomachines of the prior art. This space saving allows in particular the turbomachine according to the invention to have a smaller footprint compared to the turbomachines of the prior art, for example by shortening the shaft. Note that by "single bearing" is meant an assembly comprising a single support ring of the shaft, or an assembly comprising a plurality of support rings of the shaft placed side by side, insofar as these support rings placed side by side are spread over less than 10% of the length of the tree. Advantageously, the turbomachine comprising a hot zone, the single bearing is disposed outside said hot zone.
Conventionally in a turbomachine, the hot zone is the zone in the vicinity and immediately downstream of the combustion chamber in which are located the turbines (free and / or linked) driven by the hot gases.
It is therefore understood that the bearing can be arranged in all areas along the shaft outside the hot zone. In particular, the bearing may be disposed upstream of the combustion chamber, or beyond the zone immediately downstream of the combustion chamber. According to one embodiment, especially when the turbomachine is a turbojet or a helicopter turbine engine, the bearing is disposed in a cold zone of the turbomachine, that is to say an area whose temperature does not exceed 200 ° C (two hundred degrees Celsius). According to another embodiment, the bearing is disposed in the hot zone of the turbomachine. In this case, to protect the single stage from high temperatures, it is confined in a cooled zone and / or in an area protected by a heat shield. It will be appreciated that in this specification the terms "upstream" or "downstream" refer to the normal flow direction of the gases in the turbomachine. Preferably, the turbomachine comprising a combustion chamber, the single bearing is disposed upstream of said combustion chamber. The temperature of the gases upstream of the combustion chamber 25 is lower than the temperature of the gases downstream of the combustion chamber. Thus, by arranging the bearing upstream of the combustion chamber, it is ensured that the bearing is disposed in an environment in which it is subjected to lower thermal stresses than if it were disposed downstream of the combustion chamber. . These thermal stresses upstream of the combustion chamber are sufficiently small not to damage the bearing, and do not require a cooling device of the latter. Preferably, the turbomachine comprising a compressor, the single bearing is disposed upstream of said compressor. Advantageously, the turbomachine comprising a compressor, a first turbine, and a second turbine, said shaft constitutes a first shaft carrying at least one turbine wheel belonging to one of the first turbine and the second turbine, and said single bearing constitutes a first single stage. For example, according to one variant, the first turbine is a linked turbine while the second turbine is a free turbine. According to another variant, the first turbine is a turbine connected to a high pressure body while the second turbine is a turbine connected to a low pressure body. Advantageously, the turbomachine further comprises a second shaft oriented substantially vertically in the normal use situations of the turbomachine, said second shaft carrying at least one turbine wheel belonging to the other element among the first turbine and the second turbine, said turbine second shaft being maintained by a second single bearing.
Advantageously, the first shaft and the second shaft are coaxial. In addition, the first shaft preferably passes through the second shaft. Even more preferentially, the first and second single bearings are arranged upstream of the compressor. According to one embodiment, the turbomachine according to the invention is (i.e. constitutes) a turbine engine or an aircraft turbojet engine. Preferably, the turbomachine according to the invention is (i.e. constitutes) a helicopter turbine engine. The invention and its advantages will be better understood on reading the detailed description given below of embodiments of the invention given as non-limiting examples. This description refers to the appended figures, in which: Figure 1 shows schematically, in longitudinal section, a first example of a turbomachine, and Figure 2 shows schematically, in longitudinal section, a second example of a turbomachine. FIG. 1 represents a first example of a turbomachine 10 seen schematically in longitudinal section along the X axis of the turbomachine 10. The axis X of the turbomachine 10 is oriented vertically, that is to say parallel to the direction of the gravity G represented by the bold arrow. The arrows in broken lines indicate the direction of the gas flow in the turbomachine.
The turbomachine 10 comprises a shaft 12 oriented vertically and maintained by a single bearing 14, the turbomachine being shown in a normal use situation. The turbomachine 10 comprises a compressor 16, a linked turbine 18 and a free turbine 20, the shaft 12 constituting a first shaft carrying a turbine wheel belonging to the free turbine 20, and the single bearing 14 constituting a first single bearing. In the example shown, the free turbine 18 and the linked turbine 20 comprise only one turbine wheel. Of course, according to one variant, the linked turbine and / or the free turbine may have several turbine wheels. The turbomachine 10 further comprises a second shaft 22 also oriented vertically, the second shaft 22 carrying a turbine wheel belonging to the linked turbine 18, the second shaft 22 being held by a second single bearing 24. The first shaft 12 is coaxial with the second shaft 22 and passes through the second shaft 22. The first and second single bearings 14 and 24 are arranged upstream of the compressor 16.
The first shaft 12 which carries the free turbine 20 is mechanically connected to a not shown force transmission device in order to use the driving energy generated by the turbomachine 10. The turbomachine 10 also comprises a combustion chamber 26 of annular geometry around of the X axis, the first and second single bearings 14 and 24 being arranged upstream of the combustion chamber 26. Note that in this example the compressor 16 and the linked turbine 18 are both carried by the second shaft 22 while the free turbine 20 is carried by the first shaft 12. The combustion chamber 26 is stationary and carried by the casing of the turbomachine 10.
Furthermore, the free turbine 20 is disposed downstream of the linked turbine 18. The gases at ambient temperature enter the turbine engine 10 through the gas inlet valve 28. These gases are then compressed by the compressor 16. Thereafter the gases enter the combustion chamber 26 where a fuel is injected and burned. This heats the gases. These hot gases then undergo a relaxation and cool by passing through the turbines 18 and 20. The linked turbine 18 drives the compressor 16 while the free turbine 20 drives the first shaft 12 which transmits the mechanical energy thus recovered to the transmission device. force not shown. Finally, the gases are conveyed to the outside of the turbomachine 10 via the exhaust port 30. It is therefore understood that the temperature of the gases is decreasing from the combustion chamber 26 to the free turbine 20, and more generally up to the exhaust mouth of the gases 30. Thus, the zone ZC between the upstream of the combustion chamber 26 and the downstream of the free turbine 20 constitutes a hot zone of the turbomachine 10. Note that the turbines bound 18 and 20 are arranged in the zone immediately downstream of the combustion chamber 26. By arranging the first and second single bearings 14 and 24 upstream of the compressor 16, in the vicinity of the gas inlet 28, the first and second unique bearings 14 and 24 outside the hot zone ZC. According to one variant, the first and / or second bearing is disposed outside the hot zone ZC downstream of the free turbine 20. However, although it is bearable by the single bearings 14 and 24, the ambient temperature is higher there than 'upstream of the hot zone ZC. In other words, it is upstream of the combustion chamber 26, and more particularly in the vicinity of the gas inlet mouth 28, that the bearings 14 and 24 undergo the least thermal stress. In this example, the single bearing 14 comprises a single shaft support ring 14a while the single bearing 24 comprises two shaft support rings 24a and 24b. These support rings 14a, 24a and 24b are for example ball bearings, roller bearings or the like. Furthermore, the bearings 14 and 24 are arranged in the lower part of the turbomachine 10 in the vertical direction (which coincides with the axial direction X of the turbomachine 10). More generally, in FIGS. 1 and 2, the lower part corresponds to the bottom of the figures while the upper part corresponds to the top of the figures. In other words, the lower part is the part towards which the direction of gravity G is directed, the upper part being the opposite part.
In FIG. 1, the bearings 14 and 24 hold the shafts 12 and 22 at their lower ends. Thus, the bearings 14 and 24 support "from below" the shafts 12 and 22. In other words, it is considered that the architecture of the turbomachine 10 is an architecture "posed" on the bearings 14 and 24. In this case, for example, the gases are admitted into the turbomachine 10 from below into the lower part of the turbomachine 10 and are expelled from above from the upper part of the turbomachine 10. FIG. 2 represents a second example of a turbomachine 110 similar to the first example of FIG. 10. The similar components are not described again and see their numerical references incremented by 100. The main difference between the turbomachine 10 and the turbomachine 110 is that they are inverted relative to each other, the elements the lower part of the turbomachine 10 found in the upper part of the turbomachine 110 and vice versa. Thus, the first and second single bearings 114 and 124 are in the upper part of the turbomachine 110 and maintain the first and second trees 112 and 122 "from above" at their upper ends. In other words, it is considered that the architecture of the turbomachine 110 is an architecture "suspended" at the bearings 114 and 124. In this example, the gases are admitted into the turbomachine 110 from above in the upper part of the turbomachine 110 and are expelled from below from the lower part of the turbomachine 110.
