Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a device for stirring and aerating, in the same operation, the contents of a composter. This brewing-aeration operation, performed regularly is essential to the proper functioning of a composter. It provides the oxygen necessary for living organisms responsible for degrading the material and ensures the homogeneity, without compaction, of the 2 types of material dedicated to the composter: nitrogenous waste and carbonaceous waste. The brewing also ensures the regulation between dry materials and wet materials. Today, the aeration can be performed using a rod carrying at its ends a bent portion or retractable fins. The operation is long and discontinuous; it only affects the location of the stitching of the stem. It does not produce a mix of materials. Complete brewing can only be achieved by reversing to the light fork, either on a sheet with return in the same composter, or to a second close composter. This operation is undertaken only too rarely, because of the difficulty of the associated physical investment, which is very detrimental to the proper functioning of the composter. The device according to the invention overcomes these disadvantages. T1 is composed, according to a first characteristic, of a helicoid round wire and smooth steel spring. The tip of the free end of this helicoid is cut into a truncated cone, which allows it to easily penetrate the usual materials of a composter by a simple screwing movement. The first turn has a smaller step, in order to properly grip the materials to extract. The other end consists of a "close-up" type turn. It forms the "flying handle". The operator exercises the screwing movement to penetrate the tool to the depth adapted to its physical capacity to extract, by a vertical traction movement, a "carrot" of materials trapped in the turns. A few shakes scatter this "carrot" at the desired place of the composter. The operation, taken in a limited number of places, leads to a complete reversal of the materials inside the composter, ensuring both mixing and aeration. The device can be divided into several versions depending on the size of the composter and the manual or mechanical origin of the force available for the operation.
In its domestic version, for the brewing of an individual composter, the spring steel smooth wire has a diameter of about 8 mm, to form a helicoid whose diameter of turns is of the order of 200 mm and the total length of the order of 750 mm. This total length is less than the depth of the standard composters so that the tool can remain there permanently, screwed into the compost. At the next visit, its steel rod -2- can give a valuable indication of the internal temperature of the compost and its degree of humidity. The pitch of the turn of attack is of the order of 90 mm. The other turns have a larger step, of the order of 160 mm. For the comfort of the operator, the "flywheel" can be equipped with an ergonomic sheath. A sphere with a diameter of about 50 mm, made of flexible material, pierced along an axis at a diameter slightly smaller than the diameter of the wire of the turns, is engaged on this wire to the handle-flywheel. It allows the operator to possibly clean the thread of the turns after use, by progressive sliding of this sphere towards the free end of the tool. An anti-corrosion treatment may be applied to the steel wire in case the tool remains in the composter.
In its collective or semi-industrial version, for the mechanical mixing of a larger composter, the device remains identical but the characteristics of the helicoid are adapted to the desired performances and the capacities of the machine intended to produce the movement of screwing, vertical pulling motion, then the scattering motion of the extracted material. The "flying handle" retains its role as a zone of application of the mechanical energy used by the machine. The presence of the cleaning sphere is not essential on this large model, any more than the sheath. The attached drawing shows a perspective view of the device object of the invention. With reference to this drawing, the device consists of a helicoid (1), formed in a round wire and smooth steel spring, in one piece. One of the ends (2) is cut into a frustoconical point. The other end (3) is a "close" turn forming a flying handle that can be dressed with an ergonomic sheath. The first turn (4), tapered tip side (2), has a reduced pitch relative to the other turns (5) to properly grip the core of the core material to extract. A small sphere (6) of flexible material, slides on the wire of the helicoid, with soft friction, for cleaning.
The dimensions of the device must be adapted to the dimensions of the composters for which this mixing-aeration tool is intended. By way of non-limiting example, for a standard domestic composter of 400 liters, the spring steel wire will have a diameter of 8 mm. The turns, an outer diameter of 200 mm. The turn of attack will have a pitch of 90 mm against a pitch of 160 mm for the next 4 turns. The total length of the tool will be, then about 750 mm. The diameter of the cleaning sphere will be about 50 mm, for a good grip. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for mixing, including aeration, materials inside a single or collective composter.
