Abstract

The device has a wedge whose aperture angle allows progressive opening of the oral cavity of a patient, where shape of the wedge has an identical width. Notches (1) are formed on a progressive part. A final shield (2) constitutes a guard for introduction of the device into the oral cavity of the patient, where the device is made of material allowing firm and soft maintenance of the open oral cavity of the patient. The final shield has a hole (3) that allows the passage of a maintaining and securing strap perpendicular to a main axis of the shield.

Description

In the care of patients, most often in the case of dependent patients, devices must help the care provided by caregivers. It is with this in mind that we have devised a device that helps care for dependent patients during oral care.

Indeed, some of them, de-coordinated, may during these care, have behavioral problems that can make care dangerous for caregivers as for themselves. In a similar way and for other reasons, it is sometimes necessary to keep the patient's oral cavity open.

This is the reason why we imagined a device studied especially for this purpose to avoid using devices diverted from their first vocation as body of syringe or tongue depressed put in cross, ... It is presented in the form of a corner whose opening angle has been studied for this purpose and whose shape in its identical width, allows the progressive opening of the oral cavity of the patient. Notched spaces (1) can wedge the teeth of the patient and thus wedge the opening of the jaw, and the texture and density of the material allows to do it firmly but while maintaining a pleasant contact. The device comprises a final shield (2) which provides security for the introduction of the device into the patient's oral cavity. A hole (3) allowing the passage of a holding and safety lace is provided perpendicularly to the main axis of the final shield (2).
