Abstract
Description
TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention generally relates to a flexible applicator container, and more particularly to a flexible container having a dispensing spout, similar to a rubber bulb but further provided with a loading opening and a removable cover which can close said loading opening by snap-fit. The container serves to contain and apply flowable substances, such as liquid or pasty products, for example sauces or pasta, or paints, particularly water-soluble paints for children, or powdered products, for example flour or talc, among others.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION An applicator container has been known for a long time and commonly referred to as rubber pear; it consists of a pot or box with flexible walls fully equipped with a spout-shaped nozzle or a nozzle adapted to be coupled to a rigid or flexible tube. The material of which the rubber pear is made has an elastic capacity to recover the original shape after being pressed, so that the pot can be filled with a liquid or pasty substance by pressing it first and then introducing the beak into the liquid or pasty substance while the pot is squeezed, and finally by releasing the pot while the beak is immersed in the liquid or pasty substance so that the elastic recovery force exerted by the material of the pot sucks the substance liquid or pasty into the pot through the spout. After the pot has been completely or partially filled, the liquid or pasty substance can be distributed again through the spout by pressing the pot. These rubber pears are widely used in many applications in the domestic, clinical and industrial fields.
The pear rubber has the disadvantage of being difficult, if not impossible, to fill if the viscosity of the pasty material is too high for the elastic recovery force of the pot material allows aspiration through the spout. Another disadvantage is that it is difficult and laborious to clean after being used because the only opening available to the pot is a relatively narrow inlet and outlet duct through the spout, so that the interior cavity pot is virtually inaccessible to a cleaning utensil.
US Pat. No. 4,072,249 describes a disposable container suitable for small amounts of liquid or pasty substances, for example pharmaceuticals. The container is composed of two hemispheres united along a perimeter, where at least one of the hemispheres is made of flexible material and the other includes a dispensing spout. In the region of the perimeter between the two hemispheres, there are two wings that protrude outward and serve as support for two fingers of one hand while the thumb is used to press the flexible hemisphere to to expel the liquid or pasty substance through the spout. A disadvantage of this container in the field of application of the present invention is that it can not be refilled or reused. US Patent 4397879 discloses a container and a method for making bag-style cakes, where the container is supplied closed and containing a quantity of a dry mixture which, after being mixed with water, is transformed into a pasty mass for making cakes, which can be dispensed through a spout of the container. The container has a flexible cylindrical wall with a flat base at one end and an opening at the other end, closed by means of a screwed lid which incorporates a spout in a central region. The bill is initially blind and covered with a plug. To use it, first open the lid to pour the recommended amount of water inside the container, then close the lid and shake the container to mix the dry product and water, then remove the cap and, using scissors or other suitable utensils, cut a tip of the beak to form an outlet; the pasty mixture can then be dispensed through the spout by exerting pressure on the flexible walls of the container. If all the product is not used, the spout can be closed again with said plug. A major disadvantage of this container is that it is not possible to fully exert pressure on the cylindrical wall because it is united at one end to a flat base wall and to the other end to an upper wall on which is formed a threaded configuration which is coupled to the lid, thus making it impossible to expel through the spout of all the pasty mixture contained in the container, particularly if the viscosity index pasty mixture is relatively high. Apart from this, this container also poses problems with respect to proper cleaning, if it can be refilled, due to a complex accessibility of the interior of the container. It is also difficult to check the state of the pasty material inside this container if one wants to prepare it. Exposure of the Invention The present invention contributes to reducing the above disadvantages by providing a flexible applicator container, of the type which comprises a hollow body made of a flexible material and adapted to contain a quantity of a flowable substance, and a beak, integrated with the hollow body and extending outwardly therefrom, the hollow body being squeezable to dispense said flowable substance through said spout. The applicator container of the present invention is characterized in that the hollow body has a separate loading opening and remote from the spout and in that it is provided with a lid designed to close said loading opening. Thanks to this construction, when the lid is removed, the loading opening makes it easy to reload the interior of the hollow body with any substance that may flow, whether liquid or milky or pasty, or even of a relatively high viscosity. , or in powder form, (especially allowing it to be stirred). Once completely or partially filled and the lid closed, the hollow body can be squeezed to press the substance contained therein and pour it through an outlet duct of the spout. After use, the lid can be removed again to allow easy access to the interior of the hollow body through the loading opening and thereby facilitate cleaning. In one embodiment, the applicator container also includes a plug adapted to removably mate with the spout by providing a substantially airtight closure for the outlet conduit. Optionally, the applicator container may also include a tip or a set of tips of different shapes and / or dimensions, each having an internal passage and adapted to removably mate with the nozzle by establishing a communication connection. flow between the nozzle outlet duct and said internal passage of the nozzle. It is obvious that the endpiece will mate with the spout when said cap is not used.
The lid, plug and tip or tips are also preferably made of flexible material, although they may be made of plastic or other rigid material. In one embodiment, the flexible material of the hollow body, the cover, the stopper and the end piece or endpieces is a resilient material for recovering an original shape after having been pressed, such as for example an elastomer chosen from a a group that includes rubber and silicone, for example a platinum catalyzed silicone, which is very suitable for culinary purposes in addition to other applications. In another embodiment in which the hollow body is of a relatively large size allowing its use as pocket for cooking decorations or for making cakes, only the hollow body is made of an elastic material such as an elastomer while the lid and the mouthpieces are of a substantially rigid material, such as a plastic. For a proper functioning of the applicator container, that is to say to ensure a correct elastic deformation of the hollow body when it is pressed while maintaining the hermetic closure of the lid and the flow communication through the outlet duct of the beak, the hollow body comprises two opposed portions united by a weakened perimeter line, and the beak is formed in alignment with said weakened perimeter line. In one of said two opposite portions is formed the loading opening and in the other of the two opposite portions, a base surface is optionally formed. In this way, the applicator container can be pressed by exerting pressure on the lid (which, moreover, ensures a perfect closure) and on the other of the two opposite portions, or on the base surface if necessary, of so that the hollow body is flattened by deforming mainly by the weakened perimeter line and the two opposite portions of the hollow body come closer to each other by exerting pressure on the substance inside the container. Brief Description of the Drawings The foregoing and other features and advantages will be better understood from the following description which details an exemplary embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a hollow body, lid, plug and tip forming a flexible applicator container in accordance with a first embodiment of the present invention; Fig. 2 shows a cross-sectional view of the hollow body without the lid to leave free a loading opening and with the plug set in place to close an outlet duct of an integrated nozzle of the hollow body; 2949443 -5 FIG. 3 shows a cross-sectional view of the hollow body with the lid in place closing the loading opening and a tip coupled to the spout; Fig. 4 is a side view illustrating the applicator container according to the composition of FIG. 3 when in a hurry. Fig. 5 is an exploded perspective view of a hollow body, a cover, a plug and a set of tips that make up a flexible applicator container according to a second embodiment of the present invention; Fig. 6 is a side view of the applicator container according to the composition of FIG. 5; and FIG. 7 is a front view of the applicator container according to the composition of FIG. 5. Detailed description of two exemplary embodiments Referring first to FIG. 1, the flexible applicator container of the present invention comprises, according to a first embodiment, a hollow body 1 designed to contain a quantity of a flowable substance, which comprises a spout 2 integrated therein, which extends outward, and a relatively wide loading aperture 3, which is separate and away from the spout 2. The applicator container includes a cover 4 designed to close said loading opening 3. The hollow body is made of material flexible, and preferably of flexible material having an elastic capacity to recover an original form after being pressed, such as an elastomer, preferably a rubber or a silicone, and more preferably a platinum catalyzed silicone. In this way, the hollow body 1, with the loading opening 3 closed by means of the lid 4, 25 can be pressed to dispense said substance likely to flow through an outlet duct 2a of the spout 2. In the embodiment illustrated, the cover 4 is also made of flexible material, for example an elastomer such as rubber or silicone, and preferably of the same material as the hollow body 1, although alternatively it may be a more rigid material like a plastic. The applicator container further optionally includes a plug 10 adapted to releasably mate with the spout 2 by providing a substantially airtight closure for said outlet conduit 2a (see Fig. 2). Also optionally, the applicator container may include a tip 11 having an inner passage 11a, and which is adapted to removably mate with the nose 2 by establishing flow communication between said outlet conduit 2a of the nozzle 2 and said internal passage 11a of said nozzle 11 when the plug 10 is not used (see Fig. 2). It will be understood that the applicator container of the present invention may include a set of several of said tips 11 of different shapes and / or dimensions to allow different application possibilities. The plug 10 and the tip or tips 11 are made of flexible material, for example an elastomer such as rubber or silicone, although alternatively they can be made of a more rigid material, such as a plastic. In the first embodiment shown, the spout 2 comprises a rib on the outer perimeter 2b at a distance from its free end, and as much as the plug 10 that each endpiece 11 incorporates a groove on the inner perimeter 10a, 11b, formed in a sleeve-shaped portion and adapted to be inserted under pressure on the spout 2 until said rib on the outer perimeter 2b of the spout 15 is introduced into the groove on the inner perimeter 10a, 11b of the plug 10 or the tip 11 (see Fig. 2 and 3) to retain the cap 10 or the tip 11 on the spout. In addition, when the hollow body 1 is pressed with the loading opening 3 closed by means of the cover 4, the pressure of the substance likely to flow has a tendency to dilate the spout 2 and to strengthen the coupling of the rib on the outer perimeter 20 2b of the spout 2 with the groove on the inner perimeter 10a, 11b of the plug 10 or the nozzle 11. Shown more precisely in FIGS. 2 and 3, the hollow body 1 has two opposing portions 1a, 1b joined by a weakened perimeter line 5 formed by a thinning in the wall of the hollow body 1, and the spout 2 is formed in alignment with said perimeter line weakened 5, while said loading opening 3 is formed in one of said two opposite portions la. Optionally, in the other of the two opposite portions 1b, a base surface 6 is formed, which serves to hold the applicator container in a stable position on a support surface. In the illustrated embodiment, the outlet duct 2a of the spout 2 and the weakened perimeter line 5 are substantially on a first imaginary plane P1, the loading opening 3 is on a second imaginary plane P2 and said base surface 6 is on a third imaginary plane P3, the three imaginary planes P1, P2 and P3 being substantially parallel to each other and the substantially flattened container thus facilitating access to the interior cavity, in particular for control or action on the fluid substance to be dispensed. Because the flexible container will be advantageously obtained by a molding process, by means of two halves and a core, the loading aperture 3 is wide enough to facilitate extraction of the molded part from the core. In particular and in general, the diameter of the central zone (plane P1) is at least 1.5 times the diameter of the opening (plane P2). The perimeter of the weakened perimeter line 5 is longer than the perimeter of the loading opening 3 and the perimeter of the base surface 6, and therefore the two opposite portions 1a, 1b of the hollow body 1 are formed by inclined walls extending from the weakened perimeter line 5 to the loading aperture 3 and the base surface 6, respectively. In the illustrated embodiment, the weakened perimeter line 5, the loading opening 3 and the base surface 6 have a substantially circular perimeter and are disposed with their centers substantially aligned. The hollow body 1 is flattened, so that the dimension from the loading opening 3 to the base surface 6 is significantly smaller than the diameter of the weakened perimeter line 5, which is the maximum diameter of the hollow body 1. On the other hand, the thickness of said inclined walls of the two opposite portions 1a, 1b of the hollow body 1 increases gradually from the weakened perimeter line 5 to the loading aperture 3 and the base surface 6 , respectively, so that when the loading opening 3 is closed by means of the cover 4 (as shown in Fig. 3), they form, together with the cover 4, an approximately symmetrical lens-shaped interior space relative to the first imaginary plane P1. Said interior space of the hollow body 1 has a smooth bottom (or a polished finish) to promote the flow of the substance likely to flow to the outlet conduit 2a of the spout 2 and to facilitate cleaning. The lid 4 has a generally flat configuration and has a tongue 9 projecting laterally therefrom, which can be grasped to open the lid 4. The inner face of the lid is also smooth or polished to promote the flow of the substance likely to flow to the outlet duct 2a of the spout 2 and to facilitate cleaning.
As clearly indicated in FIG. 3, a configuration is formed on the closure perimeter 8 on one edge of the loading aperture 3 and the cover 4 has a corresponding configuration on the perimeter 7 designed to removably mate with said configuration on the closing perimeter 8 of the loading opening 3 by establishing a substantially hermetic closure. The configuration on the closure perimeter 8 of the loading opening 3 comprises a truncated-conical surface situated between an edge on the internal perimeter 8a and a projection on the outer perimeter 8b, and said configuration on the perimeter of closure 7 of the lid 4 comprises a truncated-conical surface 7c designed to make contact with said truncated-conical surface 8c of the loading aperture 3 and situated between a projection on the inner perimeter 7a designed to assemble with the edge on the inner perimeter 8a of loading aperture 3 and an outer perimeter appendix 7b adapted to mate with said protrusion on the outer opening perimeter 8b of the loading opening 3. The respective configurations on the closure perimeter are coupled by deformation and elastic recovery when pressure is exerted by the cover 4 against the edge of the loading aperture 3. Thickness gradients inclined walls of the two opposite portions 1a, 1b of the hollow body 1 provide a relatively controlled deformation of the hollow body 1 while the pressure is exerted and they help to maintain the lid 4 in the closed position with respect to the loading opening 3. The respective configurations on the closing perimeter 7, 8 of the cover 4 and the loading opening 3 being circular, the cover 4 can be placed with the tongue 9 in any angular position, and the Cover 4 can be easily removed by pulling on the tongue 9. FIG. 2 shows the hollow body 1 without the lid 4, so that the loading opening 3 is open to allow, for example, to reload the substance likely to flow towards the interior space of the hollow body 1, this which can be obtained while the hollow body 1 rests in a stable position with the base surface 6 on a support surface. In addition, the plug 10 is placed to close the outlet duct 2a of the spout 2 to prevent the substance likely to flow through the spout 2 during loading. It is obvious that in case of high viscosity of the flowable substance, the plug 10 may not be used. After recharging the hollow body 1, the cover 4 can be put in place to close the loading opening 3. The hollow body 1 can be reloaded and closed safely and can be stored and / or transported until the moment of use. as an applicator. Fig. 3 shows the hollow body 1 with the cover 4 in place closing the loading opening 3 and a tip 11 coupled to the spout 2, which may have been put to substitute the plug 10 in order to use the applicator container with the hollow body 1 reloaded beforehand to apply the substance likely to flow. If the applicator container has a set of tips 11, it must have chosen the most suitable tip for the intended application. It is obvious that if the spout 2 has a configuration suitable for the desired application, it is possible not to use the tip 11. FIG. 4 shows the applicator container with the loading opening 3 of the hollow body 1 closed by means of the lid 4 and with a nozzle 11 coupled to the nozzle 2 pressed to apply the substance likely to flow. To do this, a user exerts a pressure on the one hand with one finger or more than one finger on the lid 4 and on the other hand with the thumb on the bearing surface 6 or the opposite portion 1b of the hollow body 1, or vice versa, to bring the two opposite portions 1 a, 1 b of the hollow body 1 towards one another bending mainly by the weakened perimeter line 5. In this way, the internal volume of the hollow body decreases by causing the substance likely to flow to flow through the outlet conduit 2a of the spout 2 and the inner passage 11a of the nozzle 11. Such action also ensures at any time a good closure of the lid.
On the other hand, because the spout 2 is located in line with the weakened perimeter line 5, the spout 2 does not deform and does not substantially change orientation while the pressure is exerted, allowing a relatively precise and careful application of the substance likely to flow. Figures 5, 6 and 7 show a flexible applicable applicator container according to a second embodiment, which is in all analogous to the container according to the first embodiment which has just been described with respect to Figures 1 to 4, except in the following characteristics. The applicator container according to this second embodiment is of a larger size so that the hollow body can contain a quantity of flowable material, so that the container can be used as a pocket or sheath. for culinary decor. The loading opening 3 of the hollow body 1 and the corresponding lid have a size proportional to that of the hollow body.
In addition the flexible applicator container according to this second embodiment comprises a set of tips or nozzles 11.1-11.6, having different configurations and adapted to removably mate with the spout 2. In the figure may have noticed that the tips 11.1-11.3 have exit holes with a respectively increasing passage while the endpieces 11.4-11.6 have 10 holes of the outlets delimited by teeth. The spout 2 and said tips have a size proportional to that of the hollow body 1. In this second embodiment only the hollow body is made of elastic material selected from a group which comprises rubber and silicone, for example a silicone catalyzed by platinum which is very suitable for culinary purposes in addition to other applications, and the 11.1-11.6 sound bits in a rigid material such as clear or translucent plastic. The spout 2 comprises an outlet duct 2a and two pins 2c projecting into opposite surfaces of this duct 2a. Each endpiece 11.1 -11.6 has an inner conduit and two orifices 11c in two opposite zones of its inner wall. In the situation of coupling any of the endpieces to the spout 2, said sponges 2c enter the orifices 11c which ensure the attachment of the end piece and allow the flow of a substance through the outlet duct 2a and endpiece 11.1. 11.6. As in the first embodiment, the hollow body 1 has two opposed portions 1a, 1b joined by a weakened perimeter line 5, where the nose 2 is formed in alignment with said weakened perimeter line 5 on a first imaginary plane, and said loading opening 3 is on a second imaginary plane substantially parallel to said first imaginary plane. The base surface 6 is on a third inclined imaginary plane (Fig. 6) with respect to said imaginary first and second planes.
