Description
PROCEDE D'ENCAPSULATION DE CELLULES PHOTOVOLTAIQUES DESTINEES A PRODUIRE DE L'ELECTRICITE PAR EXPOSITION AU SOLEIL. METHOD OF ENCAPSULATING PHOTOVOLTAIC CELLS TO PRODUCE ELECTRICITY BY SUN EXPOSURE
The invention relates to the technical sector of photovoltaic cells, monocrystalline silicon, polycrystalline, amorphous and others that are integrated in supports of any material of the tile type, panels and frames for this purpose. The photovoltaic cell is an electronic component which is the base of the installations producing this energy. It works on the principle of the photoelectric effect. Several cells are connected to each other on a photovoltaic solar module, several modules are grouped together to form a solar installation. Photovoltaic solar energy is a form of electrical energy produced from solar radiation. Solar energy is a renewable energy, so is solar photovoltaic energy.
According to the prior art, these cells are arranged in groups of substantially the same technical characteristics. They are arranged in series and parallel to allow their use at voltages and currents while ensuring their electrical insulation and their protection against external environmental factors.
According to current practice, the protection of the cells must allow a lifetime greater than or equal to 20 years. The present implementation is carried out in the following way: the cells are sandwiched between two glass plates with the interposition of a material encapsulating in the form of a polymer, for example of the EVA type constituting a transparent resin in any other polymer equivalent.
The problem is that this polymer is fusible at 150 ° C or at a high temperature must be maintained and thus by the fact that the crosslinking of this material, or resin must be done in a vacuum chamber likely to to reach said temperature of 150 ° C and this in a relatively long period of time of the order of 15 minutes.
The implementation of the current process thus has certain disadvantages: the encapsulation operation remains long, with production rates relatively limited because of the need to carry out different operating phases. - Vacuuming requires expensive equipment.
In view of the strong development of this type of finished products to ensure the production of electricity both to meet individual needs generating small installation surfaces, as industrial and collective needs, the approach of the applicants was to think how to simplify encapsulation production of said cells with a reduction in production costs, exposure times, and also ensure better productivity with the ability to encapsulate one to a larger amount of encapsulated cells at a time.
It also remained to consider that photovoltaic cells are fragile in themselves and they should not be subjected to excessive external stresses likely to degrade and deteriorate.
In view of these constraints, the applicants have turned quite unexpectedly compared to the knowledge of the prior art in relation to the encapsulation of photovoltaic cells on technologies: a) the coating of a plastic polymer in injection of vertical or horizontal plastics, a technology that generates strong pressure stresses including that may be in contradiction with the fragility of said cells. Other techniques related to plastics are suitable: casting, pultrusion coating, lamination, thermoforming, extrusion plates and sheets, profiles b) of the coating by an adhesive or a resin, a varnish or a silicone that harden by UV.
This research orientation was the subject of initial studies and experiments that appear to respond satisfactorily to the problem of the applicant and meet the desired objectives.
According to a first characteristic of the invention, the implementation of a method for encapsulating photovoltaic cells intended to produce electricity by exposure to the sun is effected by coating said cells with a material or material forming the cured and completely encapsulating the cell or cells for obtaining a product or semi-product including and protecting said cells for producing electricity.
According to another characteristic of the process, the encapsulation of said cells is carried out by plastic injection into a mold receiving said cells of a coating polymer and then curing the plastics material.
According to another characteristic, the process of encapsulation of said cells is performed after positioning one or a group of cells on a support to be coated. In the latter, an adhesive or a resin, a varnish or a silicone then proceed to cure this material by ultraviolet rays by completely encapsulating the cell or cells to protect them.
According to another characteristic, the process uses separately or successively in two stages and in an undetermined order the phases of coating of the cells on the one hand by injection of a plastic polymer then on the other hand by coating of an adhesive or a resin, a varnish or a silicone and then curing.
These and other characteristics will be apparent from the rest of the description. FIG. 1 illustrates the product obtained, that is to say a set of photovoltaic cells coated according to the process of the invention. FIG. 2 illustrates an example of a mold embodying the invention.
In order to make the object of the invention more concrete, it is described in a nonlimiting manner illustrated in the figures of the drawings. According to the invention, the method of encapsulating photovoltaic cells intended to produce electricity by exposure to the sun is carried out by coating said cells with a material or material 25 which is hardened and totally encapsulated. the one or more cells for obtaining a product or semi-product including and protecting said cells intended to produce electricity. In a first implementation, the method consists, after positioning of a group or a group. of cells in a mold, to inject in the latter a plastic material consisting of a coating polymer, then to proceed to the hardening of this plastic polymer by completely encapsulating the cell or cells to protect them.
This plastic injection can be carried out according to the usual known technology in high pressure or low pressure. The high-pressure injection and compression is carried out at a temperature between 175 and 300 ° C, and the pressure between 1 and 650 bar. This injection can be vertical or horizontal by bi or tri injection.
Low pressure injection is done by pouring into a glass mold with rubber or silicone gasket. The plastic polymer that can be used is of the MMA, PMMA, ASA, PET or other type. UV adhesive, UV resin, UV silicone, in the form of granules, powders, liquids, compact fibers, mixing masters.
According to the method, the photovoltaic cell or cells are introduced into the mold depending on the size of the press. The air is then evacuated into the mold for the injection of the molten material. FIG. 2 shows the mold referenced by (1) which comprises material feeders (7) which can be located at any appropriate place. The photovoltaic cells (2) are arranged in the mold on a primary part (3) with or without integration on either side of inserts of any kind (4) (5). A secondary injection (6) may be envisaged to cover the upper part of the cells. The cells may be placed on the primary support (3) for a first injection and then transferred to a second mold for a second injection. The inserts can be of any kind, films, conductive resins, metal plates, electrical cables, cooling members.
The product obtained including the photovoltaic cell or cells encased in the plastic material may be considered according to the configuration of the mold, or as finished products (tiles, panels, scales, door, windows, decorations, textile and clothing, sunroof and all other supports capable of integrating a photovoltaic envelope encapsulate by plasticization, etc.) be reported on a component of buildings such as tiles, cladding, sunshades, decorative elements, etc.
According to the second embodiment, the encapsulation of the cells is carried out by coating an adhesive or a resin, or a varnish or a silicone and then proceed to the UV curing of the material completely encapsulating the or said cells, for obtaining a product or semi-product including and protecting said cells intended to produce electricity The method according to the invention allowing the encapsulation of photovoltaic cells intended to produce electricity by exposure in the sun consists after positioning one or a group of cells on a support, to coat in the latter a glue or a resin, a varnish or a silicone then proceed to the curing of this material by UV fully encapsulating the or said cells to protect them.
The removal of glue or resin, or varnish or silicone that cure by UV can be performed according to the usual technologies known as: Soaking, Creep, Spray, Spin Coating or Silkscreen. The removal is carried out at ambient temperature. The liquid silicone is deposited in a specific mold. Glue, resin, varnish or silicone must be photo-curable or photoactivatable by UV. According to the method, one works in a room without light. The photovoltaic cell (s) are introduced into the mold, then the glue, resin, varnish or silicone is deposited on one side over a thickness varying from 100 to 250 m, and the material is dried with ultraviolet rays. performs the removal of the adhesive, resin, varnish or the like on the second face, the drying is carried out on the second face, the cells are quenched in the material to be deposited. The products obtained including the photovoltaic cell or cells coated in the glue, the varnish, the resin or the silicone can be considered according to the configuration of the mold, either as finished products (tiles, panels, scales, door, windows, decorations, textiles and clothing, sunroof and any other supports likely to incorporate a photovoltaic envelope encapsulate by plasticization, etc.) be reported on a component of buildings such as tiles, cladding, sunshades, decorative elements, etc. . According to the invention, the process can implement separately or successively in two stages and in an indifferent order the phases of coating of the cells on the one hand by injection of a plastic polymer and on the other hand by coating a glue or resin, varnish or silicone and then curing.
The implementation method according to the invention offers great advantages. It significantly reduces the manufacturing and drying times and hardening which are for the latter in a range between 10 and 90 seconds, compared to the time of 15 minutes necessary for evacuation according to the prior art. The number of cells or groups of cells that can be inserted into the mold may be greater in the practice of the invention.
The process according to the invention uses known plastic injection molding technologies or removal of glues, resins, varnishes or silicones but totally innovative with respect to the problem and the application of the invention, which avoids the need for implement hardware and heavy investments such as those required for the vacuum in the prior art.
The curing of glues, resins, varnishes and silicones is carried out preferably by ultraviolet rays.
The protection of the photovoltaic cells is ensured by the quality of the coating material, its thickness, its characteristics and depending on the applications of the invention, it will be possible to implement variations of the characteristics of the coating material.
The tests and experiments carried out of the process of the invention appear very encouraging and efficient.
