An extended storage compartment for a vehicle, the compartment having an adjustable divider assembly for controllably dividing the compartment, the divider assembly comprising an elongated guide rail mounted on an interior surface of the storage compartment, a divider element located in the compartment and dividing it, a mounting arrangement for slidably mounting the divider member on the guide rail for movement in a longitudinal direction of the compartment, the mounting arrangement including a mechanism for opposing resistance to movement of the divider element.

An elongate vehicle storage compartment according to claim 1, wherein the guide rail defines a channel and the mounting arrangement comprises a slider member which is slidably retained in the channel.

The extended vehicle storage compartment according to claim 1, wherein the slider element defines a channel in which the guide rail is slidably received.

An elongate storage compartment for a vehicle as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the mechanism for opposing a resistance to movement of the divider element comprises an arrangement for opposing frictional resistance to the movement of the sliding element along the guide rail.

An elongate storage compartment for a vehicle according to claim 4, wherein the arrangement comprises a friction element mounted on or integrally with the slide member 11 and which frictionally engages the guide rail.

An extended vehicle storage compartment according to any of claims 2 or 3, wherein the mechanism for opposing resistance to movement of the divider element comprises a number of stop structures spaced along the rail and a spring loaded stop on the slide member configured to engage the stop structures to oppose the movement of the divider member.

The extended vehicle storage compartment according to claim 6, wherein the stop structures are in the form of holes or notches and the spring-biased stop includes a spring loaded ball.

An extended storage compartment for a vehicle according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the divider element is a panel.

An extended storage compartment for a vehicle according to any one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the divider element comprises a receptacle for holding objects.

An extended storage compartment for a vehicle according to any one of claims 1 to 7, wherein the divider element comprises a retaining element.

An extended storage compartment for a vehicle as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein more than one divider element is slidably mounted on the guide rail.

An extended storage compartment for a vehicle as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the guide rail is located in a groove or recess in the inner surface of the compartment.

An extended storage compartment for a vehicle according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the storage compartment is a pocket in a side door of the vehicle.

A divider assembly for use in the extended vehicle storage compartment according to any one of claims 1 to 13, the divider assembly comprising an elongate guide rail for mounting on an interior surface of the storage compartment, a shaped divider element for being in the compartment, a mounting arrangement for slidably mounting the divider member on the guide rail for movement in a longitudinal direction of the compartment, the mounting arrangement including a mechanism for providing resistance to movement of the divider element.

The divider assembly of claim 14, wherein the guide rail defines a channel and the mounting arrangement includes a slider member slidably retained in the channel.

The divider assembly of claim 14, wherein the slider defines a channel in which the guide rail is slidably received.

A divider assembly according to any one of claims 14 to 16, wherein the mechanism for opposing resistance to movement of the divider element comprises an arrangement for opposing a frictional resistance to movement of the element to slides along the guide rail.

The divider assembly of claim 17, wherein the arrangement comprises a friction element mounted on the integrally slidable or engaging member which frictionally engages the guide rail.

The divider assembly of any one of claims 15 or 16, wherein the mechanism for opposing resistance to movement of the divider member along the guide rail includes a number of spaced apart stop structures. rail and a spring loaded stop on the slide member configured to engage the stop structures to oppose the movement of the divider member.

The divider assembly of claim 19, wherein the stop structures are in the form of holes or notches and the spring-biased stop includes a spring loaded ball.

21. divider assembly according to any one of claims 14 to 20, wherein at least a portion of the divider element is padded.

22. Divider assembly according to any one of claims 14 to 21, wherein the divider element is a panel.

23. Divider assembly according to any one of claims 14 to 21, wherein the divider element comprises a receptacle for holding objects.

24. Divider assembly according to any one of claims 14 to 21, wherein the divider element comprises a retaining element.

The divider assembly of any preceding claim, wherein more than one divider member is slidably mounted on the guide rail.
